Please post pictures of the stock jack points

That oosing stuff is just glue that they use to seal the body up, it just got painted later. If you look in the trunk, next to the battery, you can see little globs of the same gluelike stuff that covers drain holes that are there to drain the body after they dip it to keep it from rusting.
WTF did you put all over the bottom of your car? Looks like that truck bedliner stuff...I personally use a 2x4 that I cut a groove in that mates with the ridge, I also contoured it to hold a jackstand nicely.

I got the dealer to throw in an undercoat before I picked it up.

I used the pinch weld until about a week ago when I was jacking it up with my floor jack and had the tire about an inch high, came back and it was on the ground, thought the jack lost pressure and pumped once more to hear a nice loud crunch... now I gotta beat the weld back straight...

I have driven honda's all my life so when I looked under to find the 4 jack points (indicated by the arrows), I was quite surprised.
On all my other cars the jacking point is a thick steel piece about half a deck of cards thick. There is none as you can see below.
First off, in the pic below, does anyone know what that foamy stuff oozing out of the ridge is? Some of it flaked off when I touched it.
And Second, Im pretty sure that thin ridge where the arrow is pointing to is not going hold worth **** as I almost bent it with my hand (well at least it seemed that way ). Would you recommend jacking at any of the two places where I circled? I beleive the part circled in yellow is what the fellow was talking about when he brought up using the "Jacking Pucks".

don't jack up where you circled in red. i did that to my girls cobalt, and it slowly started to cave in.

The seam that the arrows point to are only to be used with the jack from the car . There is a nice little craddle in the cars jack that the ridge fits into. Cant believe people are using a floor jack on the seam, what do you expect that seam to do except get flattened ? lol.

**** that link was good info, i hate doing this too i fucked mine up a little had to realign the front quarter panel cause that **** bent to hell. All my other cars had frames that was so much easier. Unibody **** sucks. Had to spend like 2-3 hours fixing **** after the jack stand started to bend everything, luckily i caught the car with the floor jack really quick and got it off. but **** the quarter panel was touching the door.

Back from the dead...but on the cobaltss/redline you're supposed to use the thin subframe you see in those pictures with teh "wtf" circle. The factory scissor jack is grooved for that particular point unfortunately if you use it with a non-scissor jack it may bend or groove the subframe and make things a tad more dangerous when swapping tires.

I got a set of subframe bars from U-RaceCars, to give you a better idea what they look like. This is during the install.

Not at all, we measured like 10 times before we installed anything. Mine was the first set on a cobalt so we'd go out, mock them up, take pics, then take a break, then go back out and finish That and it started to rain, so we got something to eat while we waited.

How much do they help with handling? I don't have $500 to spare though.

To the OP: WOW - Yeah, don't put the jack ON the arrows, they are just pointing to where the pinch welds are to slide the jack under. They are just plastic ground effects.

Haz l33t wheelz.
if you're using a floor jack, haha go Doc's route, or like:
Post #6 on the first page is good as well. i lift my car a lot, and the weak points on the underside prove where i tried and failed. i've found every hard point on that car, there aren't many.

Thats a easy way to do it or you can use a air gun on the stock jack.
For the stock jack, if I keep leaving the car on it, with jack stands under just in case, will it eventually fail from wear?

never leave your car supported by a jack for long periods of time. always set it on the stands.
everything will eventually fail from wear, but since its not a hydraulic jack, i see that taking a very long time.
I wish I knew not to use the red circled part to lift the car. I scratched the hell out of it and pushed it in some Which reminds me, I should prep and paint that before winter...
