Quest for Failure: Ecotech breaking points

NGalaxyTimmyo and I were reading this write up. It's a few yrs old but its a good read

I really recomend scrolling all the way down if you don't want to read it all. It lists the breaking points for several components at the end.

So based on that the most HP the Cobalt SS or the engine itself will be able to take will be 283 HP? Thats to the wheels right? That kinda stinks cuase if IM 230 now (at the wheels) thats like 250 at the crank so getting stage 2 would put you on that line of like 270 wheels and 300 crank. add an intake and exaust and its like 270-280 wheels 320 crank...

Sucks really sucks.

Dont sweat it, that was all based on the L61 (2.2) and is YEARS out of date, and eventually formed the basis of the original ECOTEC build book back in 2002 (these guys must have just discovered google or something ;) )
Use the latest ECOTEC build book as your guide to the capabilities of the LSJ (and the ECOTEC in general)

that sounds more reasonable guys. don't sweat it. they wouldn't supercharge and engine that can't take much more anyway. that's what they make N/A engines for. lol.

I read that a while ago almost 2 years ago. It's a good find.

yeah that has nothing to do with the ss/sc engines, it says "Laboratory analysis subsequently revealed a mid-beam compression fracture on all four stock powder-metal rods." and our rods are forged, so no worries

We stated at the top it was a couple years old.
I still think it's a good read reguardless. The thing I think is really neat is the chart at the bottom of the page, that tells you the breaking point up to I think 800 HP.

It's surprising how some of the parts can hold for such high HP.

Good find, intersting read, i always love taking in new bits of knowledge.
