question about XM

my free XM trial expired yesterday and i was just wondering what kind of prices you guys got offered from XM after yours expired? the reason i ask is because i heard that if you dont subscribe right away they start offering you deals to sign up, so i am trying to find out whats the best price you guys have got.

I toyed with XM. They'll keep calling every now and then. I got a call after it expired and they offered the 12$ a month. I was like err, no sorry. So they called back and gave me a year for 86$ I took it. So I'd say around 86$ a year is a safe bargain choice.

typical pricing, but they have been known to make deals....
12.95/month
142.45/1 year
271.95/2 years
359.64/3 years
etc...

Click on "LEARN ABOUT XM" then go down to "PLANS AND PRICING"

There are several users at Saturnfans.com that say this scenario works for a $77/year renewal:

If and only IF the over thinkers in DC stop dicking around and make up their minds. They had no trouble saying it was OK for Cingular to buy out ATT cellphones, for Chrysler to be sold to the Germans, to send our military overseas, and it takes only minutes from them to raise our taxes. BUT they drag their feet on something that has little impact for most our daily lives. Why?

Bought it at $115 2 years ago, last year I thought about not renewing and called them. Told them I lost my job and couldnt afford it, they gave me 6 months free and renewed it after the 6months at the old rate.

I got a letter in the mail stating that they will merge late 2007

yeah, let's recap what you get for free over the air... let's see the same four songs OVER AND OVER bordered by 15 minutes of commercials and then the blabbering of an idiotic DJ (oh there's nothing funnier than an obviously white guy trying to sound from da hood) and then, oh yes, more commercials, morning shows that are basically three idiots at a table laughing back and forth over NOTHING... and the fact that where I live radio stations suck and you can't even get them half the time because of these goddamn mountains. Classic rock stations... these are a peach too. How many times can you hear the same five songs from Boston, three songs from Foreigner, two songs from Rush and same three songs from REO Speedwagon before you go seriously postal? And then that the people i work with... country country country... goddamn it... am i the only person that feels like this caterwauling attempt at music is causing me genetic damage?

Gack.

I'll keep XM (even though Sirius has some channels that I'd really like to have instead).

i got 3 months for free by telling them i was interested in it anymore

When mine ran out I just let it go, never heard a word from XM. I figured the only station I really listened to was 81 BPM, so $12 a month for one radio station wasn't worth it. This summer I can across a special online, $5 a month for 3 months and no commitment to suscribe longer than 3 months. I jumped on it and I think that was a good deal. However with my package XM is a recurring service in the sense that if I don't cancel it before my 3 months are up they'll send me bills for $12 a month each month until I cancel it. I'm going to call up when my plan is about to expire, say I don't want XM anymore then see what they offer me to stay on.

BTW I heard this also works with cell phone companies. Threaten to cancel service etc and they'll start offering promo goodies to keep your business.
