Rear spring damper fix

I'm not sure of the name of this thing...i call it a rear spring damper - GM wants $105 for one.

Can anyone suggest a material I can use to fix the broken foam piece ? The basic plastic is perfect, but the foamy piece above it is worn away on both drive and passenger sides. I'd like to just make something that works. Has anyone ever done this before?

Rude looking, but it should dampen sound around the rear springs.

So the name is the 'upper spring seat - jounce bumper'.

If I don't hear a suggestion, I'll try fabricating one out a piece of tire, and let the rubber from the tire do the job of dampening - pics to follow.

tire rubber is to high of a durometer for that job. Get a medium to soft rubber to make it

Ok thank you ECaulk I guess if the durometer is too high then it won't cushion enough. I'll give it some thought and look around town and eBay.

Can you use the Spring Insulator here: $11. I used them for my 2009 TC.
