Stage 1 SS/SC ?

Hello,

I'm new here and i bought my '06 Cobalt SS/SC about 2 years ago. I've been thinking about upgrading the SC in it, however i don't know if i have the stock supercharger or stage 1. Is there anyway i can find out if i have stock or stage 1 w/o taking it to be looked at?

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks

No such thing as a stage 1 supercharger. You could have the gm stage 2 upgrade. You can tell by looking at the pulley side of the supercharger. I believe if it has 4 bolts holding the pulley on, that could be gmpp hub. Should have a size stamped into it. Also, the tops of your injectors would be a specific color depending on what ones you have.

There is such thing as a stage 1 actually, so stop giving out false information.

Stage 1 would be the 42lb injectors and a GM ECU reflash. The injectors would have blue clips on the connectors.

Stage 2 is a 77.9mm pulley with 4 bolt hub (it has weird bolts that kind of look like philips head), in addition to the aforementioned injectors, with a shorter serpentine belt, and another GM ECU reflash.

So I'm not sure if the car had a GM ECU reflash, however I do have blue clips on the connectors. Pully looks to be stock.

So is this the stock supercharge or stage 1? I can provide pics if need be.

The supercharger itself is stock, but it sounds like you have the Stage 1 upgrade.

He didn't provide any false information, you just need to take the time to read better. OP was asking how to tell if he had a stock or stage 1 SUPERCHARGER which doesn't exist. Yes a stage 1 kit is available but there is no stage 1 supercharger available for these cars.

If the injectors have black tops, they are GM 42's.

If they are green, they are the stock 34's.

Also, whats your rev limit go to? GMS1 has a 7k rev limit (same as GMS2).

GMS1 was my first mod 1 month after I purchased my car back in 2007. I will be able to tell right away.

Stage 1 depends on who you go through. ZZP Stage 1 is different then the OTTP Stage 1 and so on.

Since no vendor/manufactor is specified I will "assume" you mean GM Stage 1.

GM Stage 1 does not change as far as the Supercharger goes.

GM Stage 1 is a fuel injector replacement and recalibration for the engine controler (PCM)

GM Stage 2 is where the Supercharger pully is replaced with a smaller one to turn faster.

So as far as Stock Vs GM Stage 1, goes they are the same for the supercharger

You havent provided any photos yet....

Please do.

If you have the 77.9 mm pulley & 42# injectors you have S2.

If you have the stock pulley but have the 42# injectors you have S1.

EDIT:

Just saw your picture in post #11. You have the stock injectors.

Your car is more than likely stock. Sorry.
