Sunroof owners, what's this thing?

I don't have a cobalt with a sunroof, but I noticed there seems to be some extra part on the headliner for sunroof equipped halts. Can anyone tell me what this extra part is called and or what it does?https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cob...bf3b979135.jpg
