Tire Recommendations
My car is in need of tires now and wanting to know if anyone has any recommendations? Also does anyone know of any sales going on now? Car has General tires on it now and I believe they are 245-45-zr18. Info would be greatly appreciated!

What rims?

Need more info on what kind of driving you do with your car. Is it daily driven, tracked, summer driven, or a combination of daily/track? This would help with what kind of tire recommendations.

Daily driven in East Tennessee

Daily driven all year long? Do you drive in the cold? Snow? Wet conditions? Which would you rather have, longevity or grip? What's your price range? How wide are your wheels? With a 245-45-zr18 tire I would assume at least 8"?

Discount tire tends to have good sales on holiday weekends. They might have something for veteran's day.

I drive in cold, wet, and summer all year long. I want tires that will last long but also perform better than the average tire. Not sure on wheel width sorry. Whats the opinion on some Michelins?

Have you ever considered having different summer and winter tires? Summer tires can perform great in the wet and dry but are not ideal when subjected to cold temperatures or ice. Winter tires can perform great on colder slicker surfaces but are not ideal in the summer. Your tires can either be really good at a couple of things or mediocre at everything. Wish I could recommend an all around great all season tire but I am not real familiar with all the options. I'm sure you can find a pretty big set of equal contenders. I would start by determining exact wheel width so you will start with the ideal size tire. Then go on tirerack or something like it and see what is available in the size you need/want and compare side by side. There are a couple different sizes that would work equally well but will be significantly different in price. A lot of things to consider. You have to decide what you are willing to compromise on and what you absolutely must have.

I'm driving some all season continental tires, they are pretty good and haven't had any issues with them. They handle the power I have right now(tune isn't even close to finish). Honestly unless you have crazy power or your trying to plant in 2nd any all season tire should work for you.
|
That's what I mean. There are so many options that will probably fit that criteria. To narrow it down you have to prioritize characteristics that you are looking to get out of the tires.
|
I don't want to buy 2 sets of tires. I want a good set of performance all seasons. Anyone have an opinion on Michelin tires? Have heard great things about them.

Tire size is 225-45-18

Best bang for buck when I was tire shopping was Bridgestone Potenza RE760 sport. Good treadwear (double the OEM tires) and same grip as Pirelli PZero Rossos that were on there before.

I went with the BF Goodrich Comp 2's in 225-45-ZR18. They are great and look great as well!
|
Good tires, those were my second choice.

But the BF Goodrich Comp 2's are like 120 dollars cheaper a set than the Michelins and there was a review a guy replaced his Michelins with these and seemed even happier with the Comp 2's! The BF Goodrich Comp 2's look great! The steering is so much more responsive now very quick. |
