used cobalt prices
Why are used cobalts with very low mile have such a low resale price on them. When I go to car lots, internet site and such, I cant belive that these cars are being sold at the low prices there at. Or arn't these good cars (not saying there junk either) to begin with. When I saw a 2005 SS supercharge w/ 20,000 miles on it, I couldn't belive ,my eyes.

It has to deal with resale value of all domestic cars. They do not hold their value to foreign cars due to many factors including
1. high production of American cars vs low importation of foreign cars 2. perceived value of the population is that american cars are worth less than foreign cars So in effect, any new domestic that is driven off the lot drops drastically in price. |
this carmax near me has an SS/SC 06 for $18000 with 10k on it
|
i bought my 06 cobalt ss s/c with 7288 miles on it for 15k...

"foreign cars" have more parts made in america by americans then any of the "american" car companies. Hell Honda is more american than Chevy

I believe the car is still foreign because the companies headquarters is in Japan, and all the profits, etc still go to japan instead of the American economy.

Why would someone be willing to take a 2-year old car with monthly payments equal to a new car (even though the number of payments might be less -- it is still to their advantage to buy a new car because of the warranty)? The incentive would have to come by lowering the payments enough, by reducing the selling price, to get people to buy a used car instead of a new car. |
got mine for 25k cnd$ with 15 000 klm on it (9.5k miles)
|
I bought my 06 SS/SC with 5,000 miles on it for $15,000.
|
I bought mine new and don't plan on selling it ;) so i don't care what the resale value is.

06 ss/sc g85 17,400

From http://chirpthird.com/vb/showthread.php?t=6786 Maybe here I should also mention that the average domestic parts content for Kia is 3%, while the average domestic parts content of Ford and GM is 78% and 74% respectively. This means that buying a U.S.-assembled (or even foreign-assembled, for that matter) GM or Ford supports more American jobs than a U.S.-assembled car or truck with a foreign nameplate. |

Im talking about real foreign companies, not Kia . I work for a GM carrier & a Honda carrier, i know where there stuff comes from.. Yeah GM invested alot of money into those TX plants b/c they are close to MEXICO where the pieces come from for assembly...And while GM & Ford are cutting 1,000's of jobs, Honda continues to build new plants in the US.
Sorry for derailing the thread, but I've gotta stick up for GM when it's needed. |
06' SS/SC G85- I paid $19500 with 7 miles on it, thanks GM employee discount :)
