Ok, i plan on buying a 2007 cobalt coupe 5spd ss non s/c model for 18,050. and thats really my maximum limit. knowing the fact that im only 18 and i work to buy my own stuff..
well is the ss model worth the money? i know the ss s/c model is but i just cant afford 25,000 sticker price before all of the rest of the prices addons...
is it worth it or should i go with osmeone else.. i know this is a cobalt forum thats why i came here cause you guys know alot about these cars and if i do get one you'll see me here more often

I have a cobalt ss 2.4. Will you regret buying it? Probably not. It's a nice little car for the money and if you're not looking to spend that extra money, it's definitely a good car for you

no it's not that bad...but be careful b/c most of the ss s/c's feel they are better than everyone. It depends on what you are looking for and what you can afford. Test drive it....then see whether you like it or not. We shouldn't have to decide for you

I test drove both and the 2.4 is a great car. But 25 large is a bit much for an SS S/C unless it has every option known to man. Try going to GM.com and they'll find a close dealer that has on in stock for you. That's what I did. I had 3 stealerships call or write me when I went online and looked.

This thread got creepy all the sudden. lol
Threadstarter: Just get what you want and be happy. No reason to be nervous as long as you are doing what you want to do. As for 25k for an SS/SC. OUCH! My SS/SC was the only one in the area and I paide 20,900 OTD. That dealer of yours is crooked.

I got the non supercharged SS coupe about a month ago and I don't regret it one bit. Its a great car, it handles good, its solid, it has big shiny 17" wheels, I difintely recommend it.
Yes I wish I could have gotten a SS/SC, its a fast car, but I couldn't afford it. I just refinanced my house a few months ago and took out some money so my payments went up. So I needed a car with lower payments.
One thing though is that I would definitely get the pioneer radio with the subwoofer, Its pretty good for a stock radio and its nice to have. When you get bored with driving the car you can switch over to playing with the radio, when you get bored with the radio you can switch over to drving the car, it mayb not be an SS/SC but its still a fun car drive.

I bought a naturally aspirated ss and love it. I wanted the supercharged model but was to upside down in equity with my last peice of crap. It's a great little car with room for tons of improvement.

you can pick up a 2.2 and add a ss body kit to make it look like an ss for way less than 18k. The 2.2 isnt noticably slow than a 2.4, my sister has a 2.4 and i can barely even tell the difference. Save the extra cash and save your money or add some other mods.
Also since your 18 the 2.2 will be way less for insurnace since it doesnt have the "SS" word in the title.

The only thing i will tell you is searching for after market parts will be interesting for the simple fact that alot of the parts avalible and that fit the 2.4 are indeed for the 2.2 or 2.0 motors. I have a black 2006 ss non- ss and my intake, header, and shorty shifter are for the 2.2. The GM Performance header fits like a dream and add's a nice touch to the car.

The 2.4L SS is still a very nice car. It is peppy and fun to drive. While not as quick as the SS/SC, it does offer creature comforts such as heated seats (if you order the leather seating). Plus you don't get the stupid large wing (although you can order the low-profile wing now on the SS/SC)! If you can't afford an SS/SC, I would buy the 2.4L. It is a good deal for what you get.

There are 12 2007 SS/SC's in the Savannah area....here is a long link to them....
http://www.gmbuypower.com/nvlNearbyD...ignoreBAC=true
Next...go to www.edmunds.com. It will give you invoce price on the car you want. You start from there.
If you are not good at negotiating, look into buying a car through something like Costco or Sams Club...they have some prenegotiated deals.
Before you buy this car, check on what your insurance bill will be.

One other thing...you should be able to deal HARD on a 2006 model...there is a $500 incentive, plus you don't get the 100K warranty...you should be easily to get under invoice. There are also dealer incentives you don't know about to move 2006's...
Best time to buy is end of the month...they really need to move them out at that time. Last day of the month, last 4 hours of the sales day.
Get a book on negotiating for a car, or read all you can on the internet.
Here is a link to all the 43 Cobalt SS/SC's 2006 models in the savannah area...

i love my ss/na. you will be happy with it! and if you are that short on cash, then remember your insurance will be better too.
in the long run though, remember its not an s/c. so if you reallly want the s/c then save up for it and get it.
