Whats your fuel economy?
Hey anyone with an SS out there what is you fuel economy city highway overall ? And does it come with synthic oil (Mobil 1) or regular oil?

Umm the sticker says: 23city, 29 hwy, On the DIC it says 18.9 last time I looked BUT I only have 110 miles on er so.....its not where it should be...but it definitly uses some gas , AND yes it does come with Mobil 1 from the factory....

gas mileage
i check mine often i usually get about 20-23 mpg and i drive half highway and half city miles to go to work everyday. and i was told it has mobile 1 in it from the dealer

I think they do a lot of idling before you get it, so be sure and reset it before you take some readings (if you have low miles on it). My base coupe was way off (from the stated MPG) at first, until I reset it.

Just know rolled over 1300. I've been averaging 25-27mph, w/o getting on the boost too much. Premium gas is tooo much to do 120 back and worth to work

Just got back from a big road trip - Florida to Indiana and back again (about 2300 miles total). I averaged about 28 mpg, except going through the mountains in Kentucky where I averaged around 26 mpg. I probably would have gotten better mileage had I gone the speed limit, but that's no fun. There were a couple races in there, too.

Just pay the extra .25 to .50 cents a gallon for premium... thats only $3.25-$6.50 more for a 13 gallon fill. If you buy a performance car be ready to pay the extra 4 bucks for 13 gallons.

I get about 25-28 mpg. The DIC is right on most of the time, provided you reset the stats for every new tank of gas.
I actually hit 30.1 MPG on a long trip that was all hiway driving.....

The owners manual says 91 octanes with a note saying you can use 87 safely however the engine will have less power. Tons of thread on the 2.0 section that cover that topic BTW.

I have only driven about 60 miles, took easy on day got 21 MPG on the DIC, but that all I could do damn foot only has two setting on or off, I am now getting 11 MPG. I do 3/4 city and about 1/4 highway.

i did a nice long 50km test just today and on the highway goin 120-130km/h im getting about 9.2L/100km... and on the country roads going about 90 im getting about 7.1L/100km

If you check GM's website, 87 octane can be used safely with the 2005 SS/SC without any risk of damaging your engine. The specs for the 2006 SS/SC now state that 91 octane is recommended but not required, 87 octane is the minimum. Personally, being from canada where premium is more like a dollar a gallon more than regular. Designing the SS/SC to run safely on 87 octane is a smart enineering decision on GM's part for those of us who live in places where gas is expensive. This also brings about a theory of mine why SS/SC's power seems to be underrated. GM's 2005 SS/SC specs stated a hp rating of 205hp with the recommended fuel being 87 octane. This leads me to beleive that the SS/SC produces 205hp with 87 octane and therefore providing an explanation for people dynoing thier SS/SC with 91+ octane and getting a mysterious 10hp increase over stock rating. Now this is just a theory which could possibly explain why SS/SC's power is underrated, it could just be a misinterpretation of numbers. For an ecu or pcm programmed to take advantage of higher octane fuel when it's detected, a 10hp gain is realistic.

i have an ls 1sb with the 5 speed. now has about 5,600 miles on it. worst i got was 26, and best was 34. i usually let it go down to 1/8 tank b4 filling up. dic is always really close. did fill up with 89 once, econ didn't jump around as much still ended up with 30mpg.
