my vehicle is still on "transportation hold" since 3/11!

Anyone have an idea why? Maybe for the new york international auto show drive away? Its a sold retail order. Arrival blue, blue inserts, xm, sunroof, side airbags.

it was built on march 8th and since march 11th its been on "vehicle on transportation hold".

Is that what your dealer told you?

Sounds like something that would either reference your vehicle being on the back of the truck right now and they don't know how long it will take the truck to get there, or they are waiting to put it on the back of the truck and don't know when the truck is getting there.

Although, I could be wrong.

We normally see our vehicles about two to three weeks after they have been built.

If you PM the VIN, I can check the status for you.

I called my dealer today, cause I'm in the same boat with it supposing to be here now, and he said it was a couple of days behind the other order for a regular coupe, which arrived Monday night. Said any day now.

my order is in Transport staging. My target date was March 15th.

Sound like we are all in the same boat....

Wish I could get the Lordstown delivery option

Ok thats enough rolling eyes to convey my feeling about the situation.

For me "early 2005" is over March 31st. So GM has exactly 2 weeks to get me my car before they have missed yet another deadline.

There are 12 cobalts in PA bro. They are already out. Also heard there might be one in Florida as well.

I dunno what the hold up is, maybe they are making sure none of the 14 or so cobalts at the dealers don't spontenously combust.

Maybe your right and they want to ship them out in big batchs for a large release to the public.

Who knows ?

Probally good old GM has them all on trucks, droping them off one by one to each dealership as they make their way over across the US.

Transportation hold, eh? My dealership had an "order restriction" that didn't allow it to even order Cobalt coupes yet. The new car manager had to order my car through another dealer and have it dropped shipped to my dealer. I would expect that all of this is just growing pains.

Growing pains? They're the largest automanufacturer in the world... I don't think they're having trouble getting their product to the market.

I still think it sounds like they're waiting on enough vehicles from Lordstown OH to go to similar areas, so the one truck driver doesn't have to drive from NY to Philly to South Beach.

The same thing down here near STL. I'm kinda glad that I ordered mine a couple of months ago to avoid all this crap. Another dealer I'm talking to sounds like they're going to pissed off to see me drive up in one. I cant wait to do it.

"vehicle on transportation hold" - more like "we can't get you'r car to you" I had a simular situation on my 04 Cav. The car was lost for 4 weeks. I mean really lost, no one knew where it was. They had people searching their lots for it. Ended up after someone searched the train cars in the St Louis railyard they found it. It took another 4 weeks to get it. How many cars do you know take 12 weeks to get? I could have floated it over on a bambo raft from China in that time. Anyways enough of my rant. Either Chevy has found a possible problem/quality issue or they are trying to stage all the Cobalt SS releases regionally. It seems Pittsburgh got several all at once. Maybe they are sending truck loads out to each city at once and "flooding" the city with the models not to show favortism toward one dealer or another (in my mind BS) Just consider yourself lucky if yours has been built. I've been waiting since October and I still can not get any info on mine

I am pretty sure they are having trouble getting their product to market.

"Late Fall 2004"
"Early 2005"
is "Summer 2005" coming ?

Sorry but I don't count 12 cars in the greater Pittsburg PA region to market...

the word in Canada is...

up here we are being told that 2005 SS' are a limited release because of it being so late in the model year....as well we are only getting a few because most of them will be going to US customers....and look at the bright side, hopefully they will have made the mistakes on all the other models before our SS'

This is very common with all manufacturers. Basically this is how it works.

Order gets placed
The order gets placed on a pile with all the other orders for the same "body" that means in the same pile as all the dealer orders, quick builds, etc.
That process takes weeks if not a month or more depending on when they actually plan on building that particular model with all of the supplied parts from their respective providers. E.G. Recaro seats, and other non GM manufactured parts are ordered to fill the need/demand and they have their own shipping cycles.
Then once the ordered vehicle gets completed, it gets placed into a yard and gets scheduled to get onto a train that goes to the closest rail yard that's near the town/city that the dealership is at. It then sits in another yard at the train yard sometimes for a week or more until the transport company gets assigned to drop a load off to the dealer.
It then goes to the dealer, get's all the wrappings, covers, and other various shipping materials removed and goes through an inspection process, make sure all the fluids are topped off, make sure that all the electronics work, all the hinged items work correctly. You'd be surprised at how many cars come through with things missing like the bolts for the hood/trunk no oil, no trans fluid etc. Once that's done it then goes to the showroom or dealer lot.
I hope this helps
