Hook up Optionb bleeder line to CXR H/E

First Remove CXR 15lb pressure cap from H/E

Remove the inner rubber seal from the pressure release cap and drill holes through the bottom metal flange. Be careful not to drill right through the cap.

Now put a 3/8 hose on the overflow nipple under the filler neck on the CX. Take the 1/4 bleeder line from Option b tank, insert the .040" orifice into the line then a brass 1/4 to 3/8 adapter or just the brass fitting that comes with the option b kit. Connect the 1/4 bleeder line to the 3/8 line from the H/E.

Replace the cap onto the H/E. Fill the option b tank, start the car, check for leaks. After running the car for a few min you should see fluid trickling into the surge tank via the bleeder line.

There, the whole process took me five min.

After you remove the rubber gasket for the pressure release cap, drilling the holes just allows the coolant to flow more freely past it and out the over flow into the bleeder line.

Hey Flatgod -- glad I ran across this post. I've been chatting with s1lver on this and have another post (https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...74#post4113374) with an issue. Where exactly does your bleeder hose run to on the h/e? From the second pic, it looks like it's going into your bumper

He's turned the cap into a non-pressure relief cap if i understand correctly, and using the same overflow-nipple you're on now to go to the option b tank.

Well, if that's the case - then this will be much easier for me since my plumbing is already ran. Plus less hardware store runs!

Ok...dumb question...how in the holy hell do you get the rubber seal off? It's held on by something, and I'm afraid of ripping it off and damaging it (not that it's used after this anyways.

EDIT -- nevermind -- you have to be smarter than the cap I guess. I figured it out.

I just did this and it worked perfectly. I am surprised more people haven't thanked you for this.

Thanks.
I just got the ZZP S3 h/e in addition to the CX and I had to drill and tap in a bleeder to it and hook both lines into the option b tank. I should have made a how too for that as well but didn't get enough pix.

Flatgod -- quick question. Once I did this "mod", I had coolant flowing without any issues. This weekend I noticed I started getting a leak (possible mani? -- opened a new thread under 2.0 lsj forum) and today I noticed fluid wasn't going from the h/e to the tank. Fluid is in the line, but not flowing. I'm wondering if this is normal and fluid should only be flowing if the pressure is higher?
