because the leds light up that clear plastic thing inside the hvac control.you want your leds to shine sideways not upwards.ill take a picture of it soon to show you

I did this after I had done my gauges with this kit:

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/black-cat-custom-151/our-led-lighting-kit-stock-gauge-face-96714/

I used the same kit for the HVAC controls, plus that kit comes with a strip of red tape to keep the heat side of the dial red. This is how the redline portion of the tach stays nice and red with the gauge mod

on another note nice wright up 09xfebalt

I used a 3.6 volt LED for the cruise control and have some left over.. will those work for the HVAC or will it short out the circuit?

ok so i've done this twice now. once with 3mm red LEDs and once with 5mm green LEDs. Both times I bought the 12V LEDs from led-switch (same place as the OP). Both times they have not been anywhere near that bright.

any ideas on why they aren't bright?

might be just how the green is. you may have to buy lower voltage greens and use resistors

it's how the red and green were lol.

Green on most LEDs is one of the brightest, if not the brightest colour.

I'll try with the oznium super bright LEDs and resistors and post up

ok so i checked the cluster again and realised that there is a blue film over the the areas that light up. you can see this if you take the black (or silver) face off and look at it from the back. i would imagine that this is why the blue lights up so well and the other colours do not.

im still waiting for my super bright LEDs from Oznium

i'll try to see about taking off that film as well
