for anyone that read the post I had requesting advice more troubles... i solved the problem. The sir coil connector was not plugged in all the way.
Well, I have installed my cruise control. I am going to get the tech 2 flash sometime this week.
If anyone needs the connector wires/pins for the bcm or for the sir coil connector, let me know and I can mail you some. I have a whole bcm harness for spare parts. Something to keep in mind, is you can use the pins from your existing sir coil harness used on your stock info/enter button... so you really should'nt need any of those from me... the bcm harness pins you will still need.

GM stopped Reprograming for Cruise Control
Hay .. just got back from my local Pont dealer .... I Installed the Cruse Control Buttons and wire harnes, wanted them to "turn me on" .. well they told me that it can't be done.
I gave them the instructions as stated earlier in this tread, but the Tech told me the Cruse button is not active in the Tech II.
He then went and called GM and they sent him Service bulitin #PIT4837A.. It is dated 6 May 2010. It states you can no longer do an ADD on Style Cruise Control on 2005-2010 Cobalts and 2007 to 2009 G5's.
Now what dio I do???

try another dealership....
Call your local car audio shops that install aftermarket cruise. They should be able to tell you what dealership they send their customers to after they install an aftermarket unit.
i had to argue with my local gm dealership. They didnt understand would not believe me that it would work. Although, they never thru a service bulletin in my face. I did mine on may 8th i think... I am in Canada

That PI doesnt mean what they are telling you it does.....its just a way for GM and the dealer to say "no" you cant add cruise.....it doesnt mean that it cant physically be done anymore, just that it shouldnt be done and GM will offer no assistance in how to do it. It actually states there are "no provisions" to add cruise......and there arent in many cars, thats why you need to install wires.

Just completed this how-to on a 2007 LS. Thanks to 'Maven' & 'Kafer79" for the info here.
Had to run wires for radio and cruise as none were there from the factory. One tip I could offer though - when you push the micro-connectors out of the old plug obtained from salvage yard, make sure you don't spread the connector out. I had one I used in the radio plug that was not making connection because it was spread out too far but still snapped into plug. Had fun figuring out that one. Once I discovered the problem I just pushed it back out and squeezed together with needle nose and reinstalled. Radio controls work now.
Cruise was activated at a GMC dealer and cost $89 plus tax for a hour of labor. Maybe took 20 minutes. For all those having problem finding someone to do the programming change, just keep looking. Someone out there will do it. Not many are going to turn down money right now.

If you go to a stereo shop that installs aftermarket cruise controls...they might be able to help direct you to where they send their clients to get their computers reflashed.

I have the most basic cd player that you can get in a 2009 cobalt. and my cruise works just fine. I did not install the radio controls on the steering wheel.
Try it and see if it works

I'd like to make a note: make sure before doing this to disable your airbag system. It'd be a bad day if something should go off with the module in your lap.
Edit: I did some looking at that HHR forum thread. Apparently, the pins on that harness may differ for the post 2007 cars. Not sure if this applies to the Slobalt/G5, but it might.
OK, Possible part numbers for the harness for 2007+:

hey guys newb here so if my question has already been answered and i missed it im sorry,
but
i just bought an 07 g5. options includes power mirrows windows locks remote start and keyless
BUT
it doesnt have cruise control or steering wheel radios controls..
If i were to buy an entire steering column with wheel and air bag would this be a direct plug and play swap?
i can get the entire thing for 200 bucks or so and seems if that would work that it would be the fasts way of doing it.
thanks guys!

Well I installed the leather wheel with full controls on my 2010 Cobalt base. Nothing on it works but the driver display buttons. No volume up/down, no BT, nada.
It looks awesome and i will most likely do the CC mod to mine later. But I thought i'd let any 2010 base/LS folks know ahead of time, If you just plug and play you won't gain anything out of it you will need to re-wire all the stuff to get (Cruise, radio controls) to work.
