sounds exactly what happens when your roll pin breaks.
if you have a warranty left on your car, get it towed to the dealership..... if not, follow this HOW TO
i've been there and done that.

yeah... she's pretty as new too... of course the hail storm and full body makeover helped... threw on a cf hood in the process for 150.00... why not. haha.
do you think that the missing 2nd was a predecessor to the lost of all? that i really broke the pin a long time ago and now just have the full breakage or slip out? i'll know more after i dig in there i guess...

it's really hard to say. because i basically went thru the same thing you did..... i'm lead to believe that the roll pin actually bends as a "warning" that it's going to break very soon. unfortunately it doesn't last much longer after bending. mine was broke into 3 little pieces. what i did was buy a roll pin set from AutoZone, it was $1.99, i put 2 smaller pins inside the correct size pin to make it stronger. it's worked perfectly fine for me since then and that was roughly 10k miles ago.

wow.. ok.. ftl. here's where i'm at.
got the pin out.. most of it.. that's the problem.
it's been split into 3.. and the pin i have is a bad a* pin compared to the pics... mine is wrapped in a spiral reinforced the whole way through... anyway i have the 2 ends out.. and i have a (roughly) 1/4" piece that is lodged in the middle of the linkage..
I haven't been able to fit a rod push into that area... no idea how you guys did that one.. so i've been trying a alan wrench with pressure on it from a wonder bar being leveraged off of the side of the engine bay.. wiggling the casing... no go.
anyone else run into this?
I do see what you mean about the smaller one inside the other.. i'm planning on doing that as well.. I have pics. should i add to this page?
help...
oh, and now it's raining.. and i just moved here so no one to help push it UP the driveway into the garage.. lol (facepalm)

Ok I just finished and she's back to her short shifting self. woot woot!
I'll throw some pics up here if anyone is interested.. I have pics of reinforcing the pin...not to the point that it won't break, but I think it matches the stock pin.
Also I have a picture of the tranny mount out.
I've never claimed to be a mechanic and anyone who knows me laughs at my ability to drive farrr out ranking my wrench skills at this point. haha. we all have our talents right?
anyway.. how do you post photos... sorry newb question.. but where do you put them to url them here?

Wow, ok apparently the pin came out. Luckily limped it to a shop that my buddy works at and installed a new pin... A tension pin from Ace Hardware. Seemed more heavy duty. We'll see how this one works, pasted som weak grip tight in there too.
He's checking on the size of the replacement pin from chevy.
What a day

temp fix is just reaching down underneatch the fuse box and using your fingers to squeeze the roll pin back inside the linkage hammers. Just don't drive it hard after that.
