Im usually all in for anything that makes me cobalt nicer while making it less run of the mill. Not to mention I like some subtle details that a non cobalt person would notice.

This is one of those thiings!

If the the mirror you get has a chunk of harness with it you're good to go. Just pull one of the wires plug it into #13 slot on your car's harness. Run the wire to the sunroof switch and your done.

I didn't do the reverse wire, I have a tinted back window so it wouldn't make a difference anyway.

Only thing I can noticed different about this one you have linked (in post #26) is it does not have the map lights. If your current mirror doesn't have map lights or you don't mind losing them then this one is fine

The plug for the one you have linked (in post #26) is the bigger 16 pin connector. If your current mirror has OnStar, you should have the bigger 16 pin connector already. If you don't have OnStar, you will probably only have the 8-pin connector.

yeah i'd do the reverse wire, but i'd find it either off the fuse block or the reverse switch i'd think itd be more convenient than going all the way to the back up lights

You don't need onstar, I bought a mirror out of a 07 hhr it has auto dim, compass, and maplights with NO onstar. Just make sure you get the plug with some wire so you can extend it to where you need. Its a 16 pin plug and has 5 wires in it. I can tell you where to run them or look for my post in the electronics section.

Sorry, no gm part number that i see. Only thing on the back is GENTEX 025898 GNTX-511. Like I said this was out of a 07 hhr. Shouldn't be hard to find one in a junkyard or ebay. Got mine off ebay for like 35.00 shipped. Looks like 07 and up have smaller map lights but there led. 06 and older have the bigger standard map lights. There's a couple on ebay right now and I think one of them comes with the plug. here's one from an 06 on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevr...Q5fAccessories and here's one out of an 07, its the one I used http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/07-08...Q5fAccessories

yeah not sure why the one i bought was ~40 and the other one i posted was ~85 for the same part...so im hoping mine doesnt have too much "wear" since its used compared to the more expensive one or something, no idea why the price is so diff.

stock w/onstar vs. auto dim/compass w/onstar

Plug comparison only difference is the red and green wires

Stock
autodim/compass
these 3 wires are the same on both mirrors
this is just showing all the colors of the wires on the auto dim/compass

here is is broken down

i did this to see what kinna bulb was in it(i like my aftermarket leds better)

i got lucky and lkq sent the harness with the mirror, so i just pulled the leads out of that connector to put into the one already in my car so i dont have to buy any new ones
