What if you put a rubber bumper behind the license plate so when the wind does catch it, it wont do any damage.

hmm this is a pretty tight idea, im throwing it around my cranium now...

one Q, how did you / where did you go to - fill in the holes from where the LP used to sit? just sum bondo and touch up paint or what?

another idea - maybe squeeze the LP in behind the bumper but in front of the radiator? or would that get me in toruble... ahh **** it.

Used your set up for my plate, but changed it a little. I made a slit in the flap to put constant leverage on the hitch pin and hold the plate upright. Very sturdy, but still completely removable.

i just had an idea... i dont have the stock lisence plate frame to do it with one mount.. so ill double up on the strip... yeaaaaa

How'd that turn out for you stability-wise? The aforementioned single design is not sturdy at highway speeds.

Copied your nice mount with a custom bit of flat iron from work for free. Solid mounted with a spacer and bolt for more security
