Thumbs up How To Remove Window Cranks!!!!!!

I was just like all of you reading these horrible how-to's on Window Crank removal... UNTIL NOW!!! I found the stupid clip you need to get off.

You need this tool:

NOTE: Auto Zone, less than $5.00. Name: Window Crank Removal Tool (dont sound stupid like me. "I need a window taker off tool...thingy"

This is what we are going to get off to release the door handle:

NOTE: If you cant see this ring because your head is to fat (like mine) than this is OKAY.

This is the assembly which comes off all at once:

NOTE: When yours comes off you might not have the silver 'C' clip anymore. When we push it off with our special tool it "WILL" go flying. Hint to saving your clip below.

This is where the 'C' clip is hidden from your eyes. See in the middle of the handle towards the end how you can see my brown computer desk through it this 'C' clip sits in there.

This is the assembly all together.

NOTE: This extra black washer thing gets in the way. Its okay.

READY!!! SET!!! GET FRUSTRATATED NO MORE!!

1) Pretend my door handle is on my door. Take your window crank remover (shown above) and slide it under the handle of the window crank. It also must be BETWEEN the black washer and the handle. Not flat against the door!

2) When inserting the tool wiggle it up and down (like opening and closing the window) to find the edges of the clip...NOTE: THE CLIPS OPENING is exactly in the middle UNDER the handle. I CANNOT move shouldnt be hard to locate... BUT IT IS because you cannot see it.
When wiggling up and down also pull the window crank out because the clip is more towards the cranks inside and not towards the door. This will angle the tool into the correct position.

3) You should have found that sweet spot (hopefully). Now P..U..S..H.. with all your might and hold the knob on the window crank. This can actually be done with one hand.

NOTE : To prevent losing the 'C' Clip open your door half way and sit in the car seat. When the clip comes flying out it will land on the floor where all your tools are. Like mine did.

4) Take the 3 screws out (which you have read about over and over before) 1 behind the silver door handle, 2 under the hole in the arm rest to shut the door.

5) The door just pops out with those stupid plastic push pin things and your done.

Nice write up, a rag works just as well as, if not better than that tool though.
