MSD Digital Shift Light Install
Allright I just wanna say this is my first time trying to post anything as far as a "How to guide" so we'll see how this goes. I am not a big fan of these things but after a trip to the track the other day and after my girlfriend took the car down the track and smoked my clutch I figured it couldnt hurt!
The install went really well, not a whole lot of troubles getting it on. Hardest thing was getting the damn wires through the firewall.
anyways, I took a butt load of pictures so here it goes.....
allright first thing i did was line up the Shift light to where I wanted it, I tried to line it up as best as I could so it would be flush with the boost guage.
after i lined it up i took off the pillar and drilled the holes, too easy

Next I mounted the brakcet and installed the actual light, the only problem I found with this was that the thing came with screws instead of bolts for attaching it to the column so I will be changing this later but it works for now....
allright next thing was to run the cables down thru the dash and then out the firewall, like I said this part was the biggest pain in the **** I had , but once it was through the rest was cake......All you have to do is attach the GMR pickup to one of the ignition coils and run one line to a switched power source and your done....
thats the magnetic pick-up....no splicing needed
if you go to the number 4 cylinder make sure you hook up the gmr to the BROWN AND WHITE cable....
and here it is installed, on the digital read out its kinda hard to see in these pictures i will take better ones if anybody wants em but it dispalys your RPMs constantly or you can shut it off and its really g-damned brite!!!!!!!!

thanks, the light actually retailed for like 155 but I got it for 100. They are kinda hard to find too they are new to the cataloge this year. I had actually bought a Raptor shift light but after I saw the GMR pickup i know it cost more but its worth it.

Nice Write up. Is their anyway to install it with out drilling holes in the pillar?
My car is a lease and I have the airbags in the pillar too, but I would really like this mod.
Thanks
Phil

I am currently looking to see how hard it would be. but If I do it I will post all the pics of the install.
If I install it in their nobody will see any holes and when I bring the car back Its easy removal and I can fill the hols in with some black Silicone Glue
