Trifecta EzFlash Operation on Mac OS Machine via Parallels
Hello guys, it has came to my attention that there are Mac OS users that are interested in being able to use their Macs to run EzFlash. Since EzFlash at this point is only Windows compatible, there is no way to actually run it on Mac OS BUT there's a way to do it through Parallels Desktop while running Windows as a virtual machine.
In this guide I'm going to be using the following configurations:
I'm not going to write up a guide on how-to install Parallels Desktop onto your Mac machine, there are plenty of those that could be found on Google so the guide will be starting off with Parallels already installed and Windows 7 added as a virtual machine.
Below are my personal preference specs for the virtual machine:
So first we're going to start off with opening up Parallels and launching Windows virtual machine.
I'm going to be running this in window mode but if you prefer full screen, just press the arrows in the top right of the Parallels window (can be seen in the following screen shot), the process afterwards will not anyhow be different.
Now we're going to login, and download (if you haven't done so already) the latest copy of EzFlash from Trifecta's web-site as well as the drivers for EzFlash Cable and install them.
Once that's done, we're going to connect our EzFlash cable to the Mac machine you're working with (in my case it's the Red EzFlash cable and MacBook Pro), once that's done, the following prompt will come up:
At this point you want to select Windows so your EzFlash cable will by-pass the Mac and connect straight to your virtual machine.
Next we're going to connect our EzFlash cable to the OBD2 port on your vehicle:
The next step is the same as it would be on normal Windows machine, open up EzFlash:
And for demonstration purposes to show that everything works with no problem, I'm going to scan the MIL/CEL on my car.
That's it guys, enjoy flashing and datalogging your car on your Mac machines.
If there are any other Mac related questions I'll be more than glad to answer them since Mac is by far my preference of platform to work on (even though I do have Windows 7 installed on another partition of my hard drive and I can boot into it anytime I need to do so via Parallels or Boot Camp).
