So I am trying to install the hp tuners software that I bought from a member here about a year ago. When I hit the setup file it says preparing to install then I get this message, This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package. I went to hp tuner website but couldnt find anything. Any ideas? Also when i bought the software the seller gave me password so i could get the latest updates, should he have given me a user name as well?

You don't use a username. You only need the password and serial number on the back of the tuner. Check your comp for the latest updates. You may need to install the newest service packs or the newest NET framework if you don't have either. I ran into the same problem.

Yeah I'll check for updates. Also the the install disc is pretty old I think, v 2.22 so I wonder if that and windows seven aren't getting along.

I had to manually install the latest net framework for mine to work. Version 2.22 as well.

Can I just use my serial number and pw and download the software? Whoops didn't see your new post, where do I get net framework? Not real computer savvy , in an old guy lol.

Ok wife told me go to windows update to manually install net framework, now she is liking at me like I'm tarded lol. So were you able to use the disc after the update or do I need to download hp tuners software?

Once you are update you will need to install it with the disc and then go on the website login in with serial number and password and update your software.

When I checked for updates there were only three optional windows updates, no mention of net framework but I am installing the three now. Is there a way to search the windows update site? Maybe I'm missing it.
