In, wish I was sleeping. Was up late working on the truck. Got everything fitted and installed except the condenser, ac line, grille, and bumper. She finally is back running on her own power. The new lifters really quieted her down a lot, fyi if you have a 80's/90's mazda engine that taps its ass off. Change the lifters, simple and cheap fix. Still needs a new carb to get her running smoothly.

Normal day. Although already dealing with stupid developers. Who hands over small pieces of a project and expects the manager to install the core files then piece together those small pieces instead of just submitting the whole project over?

I wish I could physically punch somebody through an email.

Had an interesting discussion with a coworker. He had heard a rumor that we are going to do a 9/80 schedule starting in January. I wasn't as thrilled as he is because I've done it and it becomes a day that they make you work anyways because everything is late, etc. but beside the point. He said he heard it was to help "employee retention," and I said I'd rather they pay us more if they want to help with retention. Blah blah blah he thinks I'm too worried about money and never satisfied. I look at it as a good thing to not be satisfied. Besides, our "raises" each year offset inflation and the company-produced salary charts show that i'm not getting any closer to the median every year.

Work 9 days in two weeks (instead of 10) to get to 80 hours. It's always kind of a gimmick with exempt, salaried folks since they can make us work as many hours as they want. I'm in a weird spot with that because I charge to government contracts so I think it's a bit shady that they can make me work unpaid overtime but still charge the government based on the time I work.

I hear it. Retention is not micromanaging over stupid ****, having open meetings about company direction/projects, and getting a solid pay for solid work.

Eight 9h days and one 8h, usually with every other Friday off. They're definitely a good idea if they are stuck to, honestly 4/10 would be the best for retention. I find in a 10h day I get a lot more done without feeling exhausted, not push it to 12h then it's a different story.

I miss my 4-12hr days and then getting 4 off. Can't do anything else while working but the 4 off was great. Now I pretty much work 5-10hr days with the weekend off and I get nothing done.
