In the era of Pinterest and social media, weddings have gotten out of control.

You actually trying to fix the issue or just turn the light off? I would check to see if any of the sensors are unplugged or check for broken wires first thing.

I mean, a real fix would be best, but nobody is ever in the passenger seat anymore really so just turning the light off would be fine for now as well. I'll check the plugs and wires when I get a chance. it is intermittent.

The airbag sensor for the passenger side is actually really simple. Its just a sealed bag with a pressure sensor on it and when weight is applied to the seat, the pressure changes indicating a passenger. Not sure what your issue is but hope that helps lol.

About 90% of cobalt airbag issues is the passenger seat belt tension sensor. The wires break at the sensor because of the angle they flex at when they go into the floor. If you pull codes from the airbag system and pps system we can verify that but the belt is probably the issue. I had the same issue on my ls and replaced the belt, now my ss needs a belt so now I am actually looking into a fix to eliminate a need for that sensor by bypassing it instead of buying another 180 dollar belt kit. It wont work as intended anymore but at least the light will be out and the airbag will work. Im hoping to make some kind of rig that sends a viable signal to the pps module so it wont set a code. Kinda hard without data values but im working on it.

Does the way it's constructed prevent you from rejoining the wires to repair the sensor?

Reliably yes, the three wires are inside a solid flexible plastic formed sleeve and each wire is less than 1 mm thick. It is also very difficult to repair also because of how the wire bends they usually break about half a inch form the sensor body.

It is the light on the dash and the check airbag that comes flashing. Not the on/off sensor. Any quick fix there?

That light is going to turn on no matter what airbag issue there is including pps system codes. The airbag module uses the seat sensor and belt tension sensor to determine whether to use one state, both stages, or turn off passenger airbag. One thing I meant to ask was what year your car is, the 05 did not have a pps system, 06-10 did.
If you can get to someone that has a tech 2 so they can pull sir and pps module codes I can tell you what to do to fix it.
