Buy a Truck, get a free car (or ATV)

Haha, I just got an ad for one of our local Chevy dealships and I couldn't believe my eyes.
When you buy a full size pickup truck, you get a FREE Chev Aveo or ATV...

people just arent buying trucks, this is a great way to sell them. never mind the fact the price is jacked up on them $5-8k, then no other incentives or deals are given, so really its not free, they are just selling you 2 cars for one price.

Nissan dealership by me did it a while ago...It was only on the nissan umm...the very BIG suv...armada... and you get a base model sentra for like 10 bux.

You had to buy what was on their lot though...and only over a certain price range...and you wouldn't get any discounts on it...besides getting like the 99% discount on the sentra haha

Here is how it works:
You pay msrp on a truck that has gm incentives totaling to the amount of an aveo/atv about 10k or watever. So this is a win win for the dealer they can get rid of their trucks and some of their other inventory.

Probably not the best idea as you'd be massively upside down on the truck and then be hit with big depreciation on the subcompact car. If you actually needed both vehicles you might be able to get a decent deal, but with the current incentives on everything it would more than likely work in your favor to negotiate and buy each truck/car individually. It is a nice marketing ploy for the dealers though.

Not directly in the US, but GM does own their manufacturing operations and GMDAT does design and build a lot of cars for markets all over the world, including that Aveo here in North America.
