Surplus ammo is cheap, but corrosive. It's no big deal, it's just a little bit more effort when you clean your weapon. Windex naturalizes the corrosion.

I bought 880 rounds of 7.62X54r for $180 (surplus), while at a typical gun store, you'll pay $1 per round for the American made stuff.

I went to the gun shop to look at AK's today and all they had in was the AR's. Soo nice..
I'm thinking about selling my American Strat and spending the coin on a nice AR..

Thats cool, but i hope they don't start deploying these yet. Technology has a tendency to fail in the battlefield. My theory, K.I.S.S keep it simple stupid =).

see this scares me that we invest in weapon systems that rely solely on these computer compensated/aided/driven/sighted to work and function properly, all it takes is some e.m.p devices to ruin your day.

Yep .... It reminds me of how the original F4 Phantom came with out a gun because the guided air to air missiles were all they would ever need . It wasn't long before crew chief's were hanging a 20mm Gatling in a pod on the belly. If you look .... the new F-22's still have a gun .... no one want's to make that mistake again. I could see the same thing happening to the X25 ..... to many thing's could go wrong with it ......too much technology to bet your life with , especially if it's your primary weapon.

Ive seen it as cheap as $430 on the internet but by time you add in shipping/ what a shop will charge to get it, is pretty close. It was either 480 or 499, i was looking at two.

Been going back and from the AK and AR, finally made up my mind. Got clearance from the lady to get this used Bushmaster .223 AR-15 at a local shop they have on sell for $750 (Used, but in MINT shape) I was there looking at AK's so I didn't ask for specifics then so I will call tomorrow and find out the exact model. I know it has the Telestock and the handguard has been changed to a more modern looking one and it's got the handle style sight. As long as they have it Sat morning, I'm going to put a deposit on it (actually lay-away though I'm just doing it so I know it will be there when I get my tax money) then after I get tax money I will go pick it up. Not a bad deal IMO, it's worth atleast 1K+ new.. depending on what model it is.

Good luck on the purchase! Between an AK, and AR-15 I'd go with the AR personally. Has this AR been modified at all?

If you want to learn some good stuff about running an AR or any carbine really, seek out the video of this trailer.

The only thing I was able to tell that was changed was the handguard. I will take pics of it Sat. I'm going to get the specifics tomorrow. After looking at both the AR just seemed so much more refined. Then you know the diff with the safety, changing mags, etc.
