they really need to get over this front plate ****. they just want the cops to have a reason to pull you over so they can find a better reason to give you a ticket. i don't see how a front plate helps the police at all.

you notice how its the cops pushing to keep the law as it is. it's all relative bullshit.

I ripped mine off, I think they want everyone to have a front is so that their speed cameras can keep making money, as well as the cops, also it "may" help solve crimes. I don't agree.

Yea especially since the new law in belleville, for every 12 hours a cop is on duty he has to ticket at least 2 people

^Say what? Not sure how that could be a law but w/e-I'll save my random pulls for elsewhere.
That sucks about the front plate-I was hoping for better news. My front hide-a-way mount has taken a few bumps and is about to jettison

"Two self initiated contacts per 12 hour shift". Yea I just drive easy in town and watch for cops on the highway, its still stupid though I see at least one cop everyday on my way into school.

Ill. City Orders Police to Make More Self-Initiated Contacts Per Shift - PoliceLink

i've heard the same. they also use the headlights, but i'd imagine with the lights on especially with hids running they'd rather not stare into the lights while trying to aim the beam with the sights.
******* bullshit how lazy these cops are. if you want to get a guy speeding play the damn game. soon enough the cops are gonna ask for on-star and gps units to tell em who's speeding and how fast they're going so they don't have to waste the time and money on new radar units.

I've been rolling for almost 3 years commuting from highland Illinois to Stl 5 days a week 2 of those years and now I commute from highland to offallon 5 days a week and haven't gotten pulled over at all for not having my front plate (knock on wood).

Now I have gotten pulled over in highland for having a red license plate light, but it was late and highland cops are always looking to bust drunks in any means possible.

i made a statement similar to that before moving into my current neighborhood. i was driving with no front plate for over 3 years on this car and then 6 months after moving to la grange i get popped twice for this ****.

first time the cop wanted to let me off but after we sat in my driveway shooting the breeze for about an hour his sergent showed up and was like wtf is going on. so he gave me a local citation.
the second time i had the plate in the car with me and the cop let me off cause i explained how i tried to rig the plate to my lower grill insert and it got ripped off by a snow bank winter of 2010.

knocking on wood don't do ****.

This.

It is illegal for a dealership to not install the front plate bracket free of charge in a state that requires a front plate, assuming they forgot to do it from the get-go. (I worked at a dealership for a long time and I have prepped cars before, which included adding a bracket to every single car that came off of the truck). Trust me the police will not take that as an excuse either. It is your responsibility. You will probably get a warning the first time, but that does get recorded and if that officer sees you again, you will get bent over. I promise.

This also.

IMHO it is not that bad looking. Plus is saves my FMHE from debris hitting it and ******* the fins up. I am cat-less so my exhaust is loud as dick, and I'm a young kid driving a bright ass colored car. I do not need another reason to be bothered, or any reason to be bothered to begin with.

Just got pulled over on Scott AFB the other day for no front plate... Fricken dumb, I been driving around also for such a long time and no one said anything to me. I even think the dude has checked my ID before at the gate and never mentioned it to me... he was just bored and prolly wanted something to do. But anyways, what are some of the ways you guys put your plate on?

It's only around because it costs nearly 1 million a year to make them, but the revenue they make off pulling you over and ticketing for it FAR exceeds the cost . And all those annoying red light cameras are the other reason.
It's terribly sad that it isn't to help solve crimes it's to take money out of your pocket. Which is why cops patrol it's not to ensure your safety and bust crimes in progress it's to screw you out of money. I never get yanked for speeding blowing lights it's always the same old thing no plate or tints both of which affect noone .
They need to spend time busting bitches blabbing on cell phones who are always getting into accidents or ppl speeding thru consruction zones .

Not that I know of. Check the date on where you were reading about it, since it was last year in January that it was suppose to change, but was defeated.

It's been said before, and is still true.

The state makes farrrr too much money on tickets for not having a plate, it will always be law to have one because of that.

Same way Chicago doesn't recognize the legal tint law, and how their ticket prices went from something like $60 to $300.
