2010 Cobalt ss

Been browsing the forums for a while without posting and figured I should make an account finally. I got my 2010 ss/tc almost a year ago 85k miles bought it completely stock. I've put a zzp intercooler, 3" zzp cold air, I've got the 3" catted downpipe sitting at home waiting on the cat back exhaust to throw those on and get a tune. I'm definitely new to this scene but I've got enough background knowledge to learn as I go

Advice

I'm always looking for someone who knows more than I to guide me, I'm looking to make 350+whp however this is my daily for now. I find tons of contradicting opinions making it hard to find reliable info

At the 350whp mark you are going to need really good tires to use the power. If you want to make over 350whp you are going to have to get a different turbo. 325 is possible with a fairly aggressive 93 tune. Close to 350 is possible with e47 on the stock turbo. Any more and you have to go bigger turbo. In my experience even going from 300 to 350whp needs a big step up in getting it too the ground. Are you tuned now?

I've started looking around for a spare set of rims so I can get some real sticky track tires. A turbo swap is not something I really want to do, maybe down the line I'll send the stock turbo out for some work but who knows. I'm still on the stock tune, I'm trying to finish basic bolt ons before I get it tuned for simplicity and cost. I'll have intercooler, cold air, downpipe, cat back exhaust, and charge pipes when I take it to get tuned. Random question, if I keep the stock turbo but tune it up to 20psi should I keep the BPV or get an aftermarket bov to go with the upper pipe? Thanks man

Stay with stock BPV, I am on the stock turbo running 23 psi with full bolt on parts. I swapped to the forge BPV when I had my intake valves walnut blasted the only thing it did was make the sound a little louder. My car on the dyno ran 315 HP/ 345 TQ which is plenty for me. I’ve since spent time making sure I can put that power to use buying things like Powell’s rotated mounts.

^^^ I agree, you don’t even really need a full exhaust unless your going for sound. A downpipe, intercooler, and a good tune can make 300 plus hp which is enough for me as well.

It's up to you but the stock bpv works just fine. I never swapped, although for a short time I ran the forge one, but to me money is spent better elsewhere, like mounts and rear control arm bushings.

Ill just stick with the stock bpv then, the forge one doesnt seem worth it

I had issues with the forge one and went back to stock and never looked back.
