Arrow New to Chevy and Domestic in general

But my buddy in Fort Myers , Florida Dan who they called Bullet on the street racing scene he started with a tuned Z24 Cavalier Performance Package, and I had my first vehicle a 96 Si h23a1 engine did not have enough torque/hps so got the engine swapped for a H22A JDM Vtec. around 2005/2006 my buddy comes out of no where with a brand new Red Cobalt S/C. I was jaw dropped all i could say what is that! I like the style of the vehicle and the performance was impressive for it begin less hps then my prelude had.

But as it's 2015 now!

I have looked into them and we got screwed with cheap wiring, and terrible grounds,Lemon Law, the articles about these vehicles are killing people, shutting off on them while driving down the high way.etc they are known to be death traps which i don't want to happen to any of us.

So it's a toss up right now the vehicle is in Sunset Sarasota Chevy for getting bigger Ground Wire gauges, the Ignition switch , key and tumbler is getting changed out. and some other stuff with the Anti-Theft.

As long it doesnt have any issues i will be willing to give this cobalt a home and keep paying payments it's not the cobalts fault it's their creators laziness GM.Chevy.

So with that begin said I hope i will be part of this community and learn more why GM and Cobalts especially are touchy and want to do what they want to. not the other way around.

Not sure who you heard that from. But these motors are built pretty damn good, unless your are a full of knock tune which no engine can handle idc how well built.

Thanks any advice how the up keep works on these cars? it's strange to have a vehicle that is more advanced then odb1 ecu and odb2 ecu , these cars seem to have like 3 to 10 computers in the engine bay, rear end of the car, and under the dash on the sides etc? all these abreviations PCM,BCM,EPS,ECM which ones are the nortious to make the gauges not work once the alarm has gone off? and does this

https://www.facebook.com/jeffrey.fellows.3/videos/vb.632948930/10153190510338931/?type=3&theater
add me to see the video it will do that or , it will say Power steering is disabled. Low Fuel which it has quart full tank, the rpm gauge bounces 0rpm to 1rpm and mph gauge just stays at 9 mph.

I only had a Key no Fob remote. would that been the big issue there

also this vehicle had some recalls which are begin taken care of.

Start by taking some close up pics of the engine bay. Specifically the pulley on the blower and the injectors.

If you're lucky the power steering recall will be done and fix the power steering disabled prompt.

All the different electronics speak to the ECU, the key fob can be ordered off ebay and most dealers can program it for a small fee, which should get rid of the alarm issues (otherwise you have to do a security relearn, pretty simply just google it)

Lsj engine cheap? These things are very well engineered and can reliably handle the power of 400 hp on stock bottom end. But as with everything maintanance is key. If the previous owner beat on it and neglected it that's no fault to the car. With those miles I'd definitely get a leak down test done to get an understanding of the engines health.

Now the interiors are cheap as hell and if the rattles don't drive you insane you'll love the car a couple things I would check about/do is timing chain, check the intercooler pump, and the fuel filter/pump. I'd replace the fuel filter since almost everyone forgets about it and the lines going to the fuel pump on top of the fuel tank can crack and leak.

yep I will once i get back in my hands it will be at Chevy GM Dealer for like 2weeks or almost up to a month. to make sure everything is up to date and it safe to drive.

I will keep you posted on whats getting done and what they had to change I will ask them for a copy of what was changed and what caused it. so if someone has the same issue it can be that is getitng taken care by the GM Tech's Diagnosis.

So everyone does not have to go through the troubleshooting, headaches.

Thanks I sure will this need to be immediately or down the road a little ways?

the engine has 128k miles on it 1 owner and the banks took it from the person who owned they got from a auction it seems he only did touch the Intake Ingen intake, a magnaflow exhaust system , i am not sure where is the main ECU on these's cars where is the codes for each Cobalt? these the things i would like to know to make sure it has not been tampered with?
it's non-smoked vehicle as well. i will get more pics of the interior once I hear the news let's just pray it's not something drastic or someone majorly computer malfunctioning.

As long it don't come out of my pocket I am to see it get done.

I will keep you all informed and updated on each process they see that is wrong with it.

Oh another question what causes 5th gear so difficult to go in, i am use to my seat and pedals leveled with me on the prelude. or it is i am not use to the way all the gears are positioned yet. since the seat is higher and the shifter is not a short throw kit like my lude.

For fifth gear you really have to throw it right and then up
