New to the cobalt world

I have a 2005 cobalt ss just bought it about 3 months ago. I'm currently trying to get it back on the road. This is the first 4 cylinder build ive ever started. I have built 4 lsx cars so this is all new to me.

Congrats! I've never heard of a 2000 cobalt though. Sure it's not a cavi?

Welcome. Guessing 2000 is a typo as well.

Boost is Fun!

Nice!

I came from a very Muscle Car-oriented world and I have to say, the Cobalt is a hoot of a 4-banger. Other than being front wheel drive, it drives a lot like an old Muscle Car. Enjoy!

Yeah really enjoy the car. I bouth it for 1400 with a bad clutch. Ive replaced it all with stage 3 clutch, new master, new slave/throw out. Just ordered a new clutch master cylinder line from zzp. Plan to get ot backnon the road this weekend. Plan to clean it up and detail it after i bleed the clutch this weekend. Nesides cold air intake, exhaust and clutch its all stock. So I'm looking for suggestions to get some power out of it. Its goin to be my daily driver but still want it to bw really fun and quick. I have a 2003 regular cab short bed chevy with 6.0 LQ4, big cam, AFR heads, 4000 stall soon to be sigle on3 turbo truck so I need to put a little time into the cobalt before I tear the truck back down.

I'm afraid I don't have any suggestions for hopping it up. I've kept mine all stock — I think the only un-stock thing on the car are the tires and they're all seasons.

Well, if you don't count the stock replacement Moog parts in the front end. The GM stuff wasn't holding up well for me.

Sounds like that Cobalt will have a lot to live up compared to your Silverado — but it should be fun, none-the-less.

Yeah just thinking about a stage kit and some other stuff like lowering springs etc

I'm likewise new to the Cobalt world. Unfortunately I had to trade in my 2008 Pontiac G8 GT. Was spending an outrageous amount of money on gas. Going to take some getting used to going from a 6.0 to a 2.4 lol. Everything happens for a reason I suppose.

I heard that, there is a huge gap of power and torque that you will be missing. But i think I will really enjoy this car after it is stage 2 or 3 depending on what kit I go with. Gonna be ZZP for sure. Even tho I live 20 minutes away from Intense Racing in ohio.

Thankfully for me, I live about 90 miles north of Wyoming, MI where ZZP is located. So if I really want to modify my N/A SS I have that option. When I had my G8, I wanted to check Livernois Motorsports down by Detroit but never had the money for mods.

All of my lsx were tumed by Crucial performance. Very knowledgeable, not sure if they mess with ecotech but i will be checking for sure. I do some of my own tuning with Hptuners but always have crucial dial it in

I'm debating whether to supercharge or turbocharge my Cobalt. Not sure which is the right fit for me.

balts are definitely fun for sure, they are money pits and it's hard to stop spending on them for sure
