hey guys. Bought a cobalt just recently and I’m having trouble trying to figure out what kind of motor I have exactly. Think the motor has been altered |

It looks like someone turbocharged your 2007 supercharged SS. It may be the original 2.0.
I find it odd the seller didn't tell you what it was. |

The yellow Junk Yard paint pen markings are not a good sign that it's still OEM.

Your only hope since the valve cover id tag is gone is there might be an id stamped into the side of the block over by the oil filter housing. Should be a flat machined surface below the housing.

To me it looks to the Saab 9-3 engine, looking at the connectors for the coil packs thats what they tend to use

That ground strap looks sketchy as hell, and also isn't in that location on the LSJ
