New member here (obviously). I have a few friends with Cobalt SS's, however; I do not own one. I am actually a Saab guy. I thought it would be good to make an account here as I am always looking for transmission parts, and as I am sure you all know we have a lot in common hahaha.

Hey man welcome! My buddy has a beautiful 9-3 viggen. Great car pretty much same transmission far as ive researched

Sweet, I did not expect such a great reply :). I have had 2 Viggens, 3 SPG's, some base models and a 99. I am 20 years old and I actually gladly own a Cobalt if one popped up for the right price ;). Your Cobalt looks awesome btw! The wheels on that Viggen look pretty sweet, too.
As for transmissions, yes they are very, very similar. Cases are different. Old saab boxes shifts are actuated via linkages, not cables. New generations are cable. I am in the market for a Qauife or stock cobalt LSD if anyone has one for sale. I recently purchased a 2000 Viggen with a blown motor, so I am currently building that. It is a little bit unconventional in the Saab world what I am doing... Pauter x-beam connecting rods. Wossner pistons. gt3071 turbo. Build thread :). LB Viggen B234/T5 build! - SaabCentral Forums |

Maybe you were at Swedish Auto tech in La Mesa? I worked there for awhile and we did performance upgrades, tunes, etc on Saab's and Volvo's. I may actually go back to work there :). Valve cover I would just use OE gaskets with some Toyota black sealer on the crescent moon parts of it, also I would recommend a new cam cap, where on the old 900's distributors go. They machined the new heads with the hole still there and there is a little rubber cap that leaks. As for the clutch. Not too many options. Spec clutches are hit or miss. I like the stage 3+ because it is not a puck design, is still sprung and is somewhat decent for a daily. But, they are hit or miss. I actually prefer the stock Viggen disc and pressure plate!
