Oh you're right, it nearly doubled, guess better off looking for turbo. Typically what does a stock one put down and can you see big power gains with little mods or do you need to go all out to make real hp?
#77
stock turbo cobalts put down around 230-240 whp depending on dyno obviously.
tuned cobalts range from 310-330 whp and 350+ Wtq

Go check out the dyno section, you can see the power different set ups have put down in the past and base your buy on that, but like it has been said, your further ahead buying an SS to start with.
There presents another issue, the SC cars tend to sell for less than the TC cars. The TC sedans being at the upper end of that spectrum because of the limited production numbers

fwiw,
mine is an 06 SS/SC, dyno'd at 225 to the wheels with no working intercooler pump, GM Stage 2 tune and 3" pulley

Those are some big numbers some of these guys are putting up! Pretty decent for stock numbers as well, 230-240. Guess I'll have to do some reasearch and plan on dumping somemoney into it if I want big power. Thanks for the info. now to find something reasonable to start with.

I posted one with less mileage and a lower price, are you claiming that your car is worth 2k more with 30k more miles and a blue paint job? These are not ferraris.

There were only something like 500 LNF sedans build, they fetch a premium.
$7000 is nothing, thats about $9400 canadian, I see TC COUPES for sale here for $10-12k still

Still, 110K miles for 7k or 150K miles for 7K, both lnf (2009 ss sedan), only one is blue. The only difference between them is higher mileage and color so i cant see why it would fetch more.

location
recent repairs
I mean this must be the first time you've ever bought a ******* car

110k miles is still a baby.... Mines pushing 211,000 miles and still running strong.
Keep in mind, these are becoming niche market cars. They are worth what someone is willing to pay.
You'd call me nuts for dropping $5000 on an 89 Pontiac Grand Prix, but if I had the money and the right TGP came up, I'd be on it like a fat kid on a cupcake.

Location is a weak argument especially when you live in the rust belt of the US, if anything your price should be lower.
Has the car sold yet? If such a rare desired color it would be gone already no?

I paid stupid money for an old jeep and that makes as much sense as a gran prix because those are much sought after. Like you said, this is really a niche community.

Again, don't know how it works south of the border, but if you fix a car here, safety and e-test it, its not unthinkable to get $2000 or more for a car over what you would get "as is".
#92
What's the point in fighting if someone likes the car they will pay the 7k, it's not bad of a price the miles are high, but you are getting a car you won't have to put a lot of money into it. The other car might have lower miles but what if you need to replace parts once you get it? Then you will only see a 1k difference or depending on what the car might need

In this scenario it seems the car it worth around 4.5 on kbb, so add in the hard to find factor and its 6.5k in best condition. if it had issues which were fixed how does that justify it going up to 8k or more and then coming back to 7 when it shouldve started around 7.5 and offered 6.5?
edit: to snails point, the seller can sell it for wahtever he wants, but he shouldnt take offense and attempt to attack people who see differently, or reasonably one might say

Color plays a big roll, maybe these cars are a bit young for it, but watch any classic car show, when it comes down to it, often times the color is what makes them rare. Years ago I passed up on an 89 Dodge Daytona, it needed a turbo and the floor was rotten, that scared me off at the time... If I'd known then what I know now, that wouldn't of scared me off and I would of had a 1 of 1 car because of the options and the Black Cherry Metallic paint.

If you have something you KNOW is worth $10, are you going to post it for $10? or are you going to try to get $15?
Like I said, its worth what someone is willing to pay, and in the cobalt world, $7k isn't a bad number...
Just looked, there are currently 2 SC COUPES here on kijiji for $9000 canadian ($6500 USD) and like I said, the TC cars go for more, TC sedans for more still....

Brandon, no ones been proven wrong, all thats been proven is that very few people out there would be willing to pay that price. But setting whatever price you want to get no matter how right or wrong is your prerogative.

A cars value is ALWAYS someones prerogative. What one person might feel is right, might be too high for the next guy, but the insurance company probably thinks "next guy" is way too high too.
Been there done that... bought a car once, talked the dealer down, car got wrote off 10 days later and had to talk the insurance company up.
Even appraisals are "Replacement value", not "resale value", its a mater of what that appraiser thinks it would cost to replace the car
