Alright guys.. .Noob questions ftw!

Well. I am completely nooby to nitrous and how it's hooked up and basically, I know you push a button and off you go. No flaming please...

Alrightttt... Soo.. I would like to get a small nitrous set up for my ss/sc. Just for the extra boost and ****. How safe is this? I really don't wanna be blowing anything or messing **** up when I hit the nitrous. Is it worth it guys?

actually there is no button pushing and off you go...only in the F&F movies.

The nitrous is actually activated by a wide open throttle switch. You flip on the arming switch, go WOT and THEN off you go.

And so you don't spray too early or accidently hit the limiter you run a window switch which controls what rpm the nitrous will activate and deactivate. So lets say you set it at 3100-6450rpm. When you are going WOT it will come on at 3100rpm and shut off just before redline at 6450rpm.

Thats the safest way to go about it. I would pick up a wet kit and start small, like a 35 shot and see how you like it. I know there are a few guys on here running much larger shots on the SS/SC and I haven't read anything about them blowing up yet

So basically pick up a wet kit, msd window switch, 2 step colder plugs, bottle heater and purge and you'll have a proper setup. I think its definitely worth it and even if you only use it at the track its cheap and easy power.

Sounds good Ion Ninja. I appreciate you not flaming me lol because I literally had no clue on how it works. So you flip the switch up and when you're at WOT and you have it set at a certain rpm it kicks in? That's pretty sweet. I wasn't planning on going w/ anything big. Just the extra boost every now and then. How much would all of that run me you think?

its ok, no blurry background either

in fact it feels just like a normal acceleration except more powerful

for what I listed you would be lookin at about $1K but thats covering all your bases

at the very minimum I would recommend the wet kit, colder plugs and the MSD digital window switch, you can get away with no bottle heater or purge kit but it really plays a big part in delivering a strong shot.

What you can do (and what I'm going to do) is purchase a wet kit and then get the accessories kit that is available with pretty much every major brand. It includes a purge kit, bottle heater, nitrous gauge, and a blow down tube. Then pick up the window switch and colder plugs and you should have a pretty solid setup.

Ninja is right.

Ill sum up my kit costs for ya, old thread i know.

Nitrous express efi kit 10lb ---- 545
Two step colder plugs --- 16 shipped
msd window switch --- 90
nx purge kit --- 115
tools, wiring, button replacements, nitrous itself, premium gas, more tools, more nitrous = infinity.

have fun. its a blast. I disagree with the "normal acceleration comment"

Its normal until you hit that sweet 3k rpms then the thing rips. and you have to deal with torque steer and massive wheel hop. hard to drive it. And then when you hit the cutoff, 6100 rpms for me, its like youre not moving, kinda like a shift indicator.

Wet kit is the way to go, for the 2.2-2.4's anyways.
