Eathquake

earthquake near Ottawa and we felt it down here in Buffalo. I felt the house shake a little but thought it was the wind. Anyone else feel it?

Yes and I'm 300 miles away. The building rocked solid for about 20 seconds and we're only on the third floor. My brother in Sudbury (~500 miles away) felt it, he's on the 14th floor and my friends that live in Ottawa are shitting their pants right now. 5.5 is pretty decent sized!

WTF?
Earthquake in Ottawa?
That's like having a tropical storm at the arctic.

Hope everyone is alright.

For this region that's big....the last one was a 3.0 and no one even noticed the damned thing. Like Omega said, a decent sized EQ here is completely out of the ordinary.

You guys are nutts living in Cali. By the time it got to London from Ottawa no way it was anywhere near the 5.5 that went through there. Needless to say, I'll stay here thank you very much I'm not a huge fan of the earth randomly moving under my feet .

I was staring at my monitor and thought maybe I needed to get up (almost gave me the sensation of being light-headed). I pulled back, stood up, had wobbly legs and figured it couldn't be anything else to make the building move like that.

Ya I read 5.5, figured what we felt being that far away must have been maybe a 4 and then got wondering what in the hell a 7 or 8 must feel like!

When the one hits down here in Memphis they will feel it all the way to Boston. It is projected to cause catastrophic damage as far north as St. Louis, east as Nashville and west as Little Rock. Probably be felt all the way to Boston again. Last time it struck in 1811 the shakes rang the bell in the Boston Courthouse

They're also predicting Yellowstone is going to errupt in a massive volcanic erruption but don't know when since it's well over-due for one. I'd prefer mother earth leaves us alone up here, we don't need EQs and tornadoes thanks !
