Supercharger Disassembly
 

Quick question for those who know more about these engines than I do. If I take the supercharger off the car to put a smaller pulley on. Is it possible to take the nose off the supercharger without having to put new gaskets on or worry about timing it? The press machine is a little to small for the entire supercharger, and i was just trying to figure out an easy way to make it work. Please write back soon if possible.

If you remove the snout, you will need to replace the oil in the supercharger. There is no "timing" just gears that mate up in the end housing. You don't have to line them up anyway special.

I was moreso talking about what kind of gaskets go between the snout and the body, i just wanted to be sure before i cracked it open and had to spend more money

If you do it right you dont have to replace the supercharger oil and you dont need a gasket because there isnt one!

If there is oil in the supercharger, how can the metal on metal connection not let it leak?

Theres 3 parts to the supercharger when you pull it off. The part that has the oil has a sealant on it but if you do it correctly those two parts stay together!

I guess I am not seeing what you are trying to say, Im sorry. I was just wondering if there was a gasket, or a sealant between the nose of the supercharger, and the body. Im not understanding the whole three piece thing

i would not recomend removing the snout of the supercharger. remove the supercharger and get the right tools to remove the pulley. you can reuse the gskt for the supercharger, unless you damage it. work smarter not harder

Then there is silicone gasket maker holding it together. Theres two surfaces held together by this stuff. The first is the surface between the snout and gears, and the second is between the gears and blower housing. VERY carefully pry the gears away from the housing, by doing it this way, you won't have to reoil it. Just don't jolt the snout/gears and rotors assembly, if you do the silicone seal might break and oil will leak all over.

I accidently seperated it at the wrong point when I tried to avoid opening the sealed part. Just be really careful. You have to tap it apart a little after the bolts are out and I was in a hurry and tapped the wrong ridge on it.

i was tryin to take mine apart today to seal the silencer holes and i couldnt get the snout and oil holding part away from the rotor housing... I took out the 8 bolts around the snout do i also need to take off the pulley and hub or do i just need to use a rubber mallet and tap it apart or what cuz i pulled on that thing pretty hard and got nothin.. can anybody clarify this please

its a pain to get it apart, but you can do it. you need something you can pry them apart with, like a sharp precision screw driver or something. be very careful, you dont want to mar it while takin it apart. you'll need some gasket maker to reseal the case when you put it back together. my section with the gears is leakin oil (my spare s/c im workin on) so i'll have to refill mine. be careful setting it down...
