I think you guys forget that in the facebook world (like css gang), Rakes has everyone convinced that he is the best tuner in existence, and the 20G is the best turbo swap for the Cobalt. I'm not even joking :thumbsdow

Cobe, you can't just borrow a cable. The cable is tied to a serial number that has credits associated with it. The owner of the cable will have to purchase credits to unlock your car before you can tune or data log with it. Btw, you're going to want a copy of HP tuners yourself so that you can log your car from time to time to make sure it isn't slowly blowing up. This is especially the case if you are having Rakes tune you . Ebay usually has a fair number of HP tuners for sale, some with credits left even, for about half the price of new. I would either start there, or buy one off of a member here. Good luck.

You live in michigan. Why not just get dyno tuned by zzp? Its a hell of alot better than rakes

hawkssoccer11 08-06-2015 11:43 AM

and probably just as much too when its all said and done lol

Eh its only like $300 assuming everything goes well. My car was done by them

hawkssoccer11 08-06-2015 02:30 PM

and james will most likely charge $200-$300 and plus he has to get hptuners somewhere lol

yellowsupercharged06 08-06-2015 02:33 PM

+ the cost of a new motor cuz he cant tune .... uhhhh zzp is a no brainier to me

hawkssoccer11 08-06-2015 02:38 PM

I doubt the OP will listen anyways. For some reason everyone gets butthurt when rakes is bashed on.

yellowsupercharged06 08-06-2015 04:18 PM

Cobe is just butthurt 24/7 it has nothing to do with this thread lmao

James says he owns 5 cables and sends them to people he tunes......

And $200?

I will loan you my cables for a $1300 deposit. That is what it would cost me to replace it and unlock the cars I need.
You pay shipping both ways, return it within 30 days and I keep $100.

You would actually have to send me an extra $100 to unlock your car through my account as well.

Is 500$ a lot for a tune? Im in ME and that's what this guy said he'd charge here. Dunno and tune?

hawkssoccer11 08-07-2015 10:19 AM

yeah thats pretty pricey lol you can get remote tuned for a lot less lol. or travel a little bit and get tuned by someone else in the north east area

blueLNFftw 08-07-2015 10:21 AM

Dyno time and a full tune.
It isnt really that pricey.

Remote tune.
~$300

You need your own cable. Add another $400-$650 for that.

You also need to understand how to use the basic parts of the software.

hawkssoccer11 08-07-2015 10:22 AM

yeah i guess if you look at it from blues stand point lol i paid my tuner twice now and ive given him a lot of business now so any retune is free lol

blueLNFftw 08-07-2015 10:26 AM

Ask your potential remote tuner lots of questions. Judge them by how they respond and ask them about other people they have tuned; talk to those people.

Picking a good tuner is like picking a good attorney. Just because someone is plastered all over FB as "amazing" (like lawyeres on buses) does not automatically mean they are the bees knees.

Do some research.

thats on the high end... most charge between 250-300 (usually the later)... depending on if they have your car unlocked in HPT

if dunno means "dyno" thats actually a pretty good price considering its probably 100ish to rent the dyno for an hour. Just make sure the tuner is reputable with ecotecs/cobalts... because if not, you are not gonna have a good time

lots of good tuners on here. you can get remote tuned or make a day trip out of it and meet up with a northeast tuner.

Ok well my situation is this. I have an HP tuner and have tuned my car a bit with the MAF chart. Was going to learn but school starts up in a week.
They do a dyno test, then road, and he said has never tuned a Cobalt -_- sooo yeah. Remote tune is cool too but how do those work?
And I'm not located near anyone the tuned cobalt I think lol I'm in Wichita, Kansas.

hawkssoccer11 08-07-2015 01:07 PM

well since you have the hp tuners already as long as you know how to copy and paste some tables youll be ok. what i would do is hit up terminator2 here on the forum and have him remote tune you. hes in my eyes one the best if not the best for a cobalt.
