The D5100 is actually a really decent DSLR. Its what I owned before I got my D600. Its along cannons T3I. Both can take amazing pictures, especially if you get some decent glass for it.

I can agree - my friend has the D3100 equivalent in Canon and he takes stuff that you'd think a professional photographer whose sole occupant is photography took. It's glass, it's technique, it's lighting, it's vision, it's so many different things. I took photos with my D60 that I haven't been able to recreate yet with my D7000 and the D7k is double the price.

Thinking about going with the Hoya 52mm Lens Filter kit...comes with glass uv filter, circular polarizing filter and neutral density nd8 filter. Anyone have those, or recommendations on lens filters I should look at?
