The B&W made me happy because I have this thing about grain. In digital, I despise it 100%. I want no grain whatsoever unless I intend for it, I hate it so much. In film, I don't mind it but I don't want a lot of it. The first roll of B&W I shot was Fuji Neopan ISO-400 and it had tremendous grain, too much for my taste.
This image here is with the Fuji Neopan on the Yashica camera with a 50mm lens. You can see how grainy it is.
Compare now to this one with the Kodak Tri-X on the same camera with the same lens:
It's like night & day difference. I'll use the Tri-X again but for my next roll of B&W I'm going to use Ilford Delta ISO-400. It's supposed to be fine grain and I'm going to run it through my Nikon FM2n.
Sad part of all of this, my first 6 photographs on the Tri-X did not develop - probably because I loaded the film wrong into the camera. Tragic indeed! I'm hoping not to repeat that mistake.

Yeah well - a guy I work with develops it himself but also bought film in bulk so he can load is own rolls! Me, no thanks, I'll pay $4 - $8 for the roll and $17.50 (I know right?) to develop it and not screw up royally.
