ummm.... anything over 8k in damage to ANY cobalt will total it.

on the lower models as litttle as 3k on an LS 2.2 will total that.

i will bet money the thing is officially a junker. so does the owner lol

hopefully the op gets something decent or at least equal in value from your insurance company.

also. speaking from someone who had ALLOT of damage repaired on there cobalt, its never the same car.

LS6Rally 07-31-2010 02:14 PM

Terminator2 07-31-2010 03:17 PM

if its more than 1/3rd what the cars worth they tend to total it. sorry to say but i think youre sol on the balt. might as well buy a mustang like everyone else is :P

Na I heard 80%. The damage on mine is more than 4k, and my car isn't worth 12k.

LS6Rally 07-31-2010 06:21 PM

It depends on your insurance comapny. they all have differnt policies and procedures

thesteed46 07-31-2010 06:46 PM

But a third? That's just ridiculous.

kretty 07-31-2010 07:38 PM

$10,230.00 in damage and they're fixing it. :) I'm so freakin happy. Won't be the same I know, but I get my car back... My car was valued at 20k and I needed 80% of the value in damage to total it. Can't wait to go to court now... I was hit really hard so I was not following too closely... Look at the damage and you tell me what you think? I was in control of my car completely until I got hit. My seat reclined and I could not reach the wheel to avoid the RX8...

if that was the case, almost every fender bender would be a total.

DavidW 07-31-2010 10:56 PM

your seat reclined when he hit you?
generally if you get pushed into someone up here, the car infront of you is your fault, good luck though

Exactly.

Erick161 08-01-2010 07:15 AM

sorry to hear. Best of luck! Is your neck and back feeling good? ;)

kretty 08-01-2010 05:41 PM

We'll see how well the body shop does at repairing it. Its supposedly just sheet metal damage.

thesteed46 08-01-2010 06:41 PM

Did they say when it should be done??

At least you didn't have to wait a week and a half for them to just assess the damage.

originaladrian 08-01-2010 09:35 PM

listen to me closely. not trying to be a dick or anything. although i do have a few drinks in me.

before ANYTHING. make sure they make sure the cars frame is still 100% good. if its off at all you have the right to total the car. and i do recomend that you try and get that thing declared totaled. it wont be the same... ever...ever ever...fooevaeva.

kretty 08-02-2010 07:47 PM

I'll get it looked at. If the frame is off slightly I will have it totalled. How do they check the frame?

thesteed46 08-02-2010 09:36 PM

I've heard they measure it somehow.

2009Cobalt 08-02-2010 09:41 PM

Ouch...sorry to see the slobalt that way... :/

bobbyhill31286 08-02-2010 09:45 PM

goddamn that sux bro

the guy that hit u must've been freakin movin, their car is F#CKED!!!

JL-KA 08-02-2010 09:46 PM

You got hit after trying to avoid a car in front of you? As in the car in front of you stopped and you changed lanes and then were rear ended? If that's the case it would be your fault, but maybe I'm not understanding how it happened.

senior_brown 08-02-2010 09:48 PM

that car should be written off.. there's all kinds of damage these shops arent gonna be able to fix properly...
