Same here, too bad Ford doesn't have a product similar to the SS.

Never thought I'd be driving a Chevy and enjoying it.

Dude, edit your thread title. Took me an hour to figure out "qwning" meant "owning".

Its not even close to a fair race, Despite the price ( a TA easily went for close to 32K fully loaded) Bottom line is the cobra is starting with about 50-70 more HP, and has a good amount of more mods done to it..(Ta had a stall, cam, and some other nonsence).

Throw that cobra against a new GTO with some mods and it would be more of a fair race....Dodge doesn't really offer anything around there....maybe an SRT6....*shrug*.

Actually the Charger SRT-8 when it debuts this late fall should be right there. The SRT-8 Chrysler 300C has hit high 12's stock already; the Charger SRT-8 will get the same powerplant and drive train, but is about 300lbs lighter than the 300C.

39k might be what the dealers will mark them up to when they first come out... but I'd bet MSRP is around 35... or about 3k higher than the Charger Daytona that is already out.

Those new Hemi's in the Charger are badass!! They are moving those 4000 pound cars to low 13 second passes. Way better then GM's V8!!

Uhhh how are they better?

5.7 LS1- 350Hp
5.7L Hemi- 334
5.7L LS6- 405

6.0L LS2- 400
6.1L Hemi- 425

Fact of the matter is that they are almost the same design, I blieve they are both pushrod engines, and with the only real changes being the head desgin (which it isn't even a true hemi) they really arn't better, not when you consider GM got 405 out of a 5.7 rather than the Hemi 6.1

You cant argue that they HAD to put a blower on the engine when they are running a smaller engine to begin with, you could just as easily say GM HAD to have a bigger engine....

35k? Riiiiiight, hell a loaded convertible GT can go for 35K.. Now way you will see it MSRP for under 37, and on dealer lots for at least 45.

Actually, no they didn't HAVE to put a blower in the cobra. It was part marketing, part stubborness by John Coletti, head of SVT at the time. They did produce good gains from upgraded cams/heads, etc. However, having be that SVT only gets limited funds form the big guns a Ford, they did not have enough money to put into research and developement of a high hp n/a modular. So, they took the knowledge already obtained through the developement of the '99+ supercharged Lightning, and applied it to the cobra. It was more cost efficient, and besides, if they stick a blower in a truck, why not the mustang?
SVT also keeps up with the trends of SVT owners, and realized how popular it was for them to install kenne Bell, Vortech, etc superchargers in their cars. So, they also figured they would get more sales from the supercharged route (which they did).

If you would like to learn more, please buy POWERED BY SVT now, at your local Branes & Noble. Cost= $52.....SVT sent me a free copy when i purchased my SVT Focus

wow... You must not know a thing about the Hemi or the LSX. The LSX series engines are some of the most powerful v8's on the market, just take a look at the LS7, 500hp 475tq. Is that enough power for you? The Hemi is nearly the same engine as an LS1, DCX even copied off of the intake manifold of the LS1, just like ford did with the new 4.6. The bottom line is, they are both pushrod motors with state-of-the-art technology and some SERIOUS hp and tq. They are pretty much the same motor if you want to generalize (like your post). And when push comes to shove, the 05 GTO is a nearly 4k lb. car capable of running high 12's. I dont see how the hemi can be soo much better than the LSX, the LSX has a MUCH LARGER aftermarket (due to how long the basic model has been out). Honestly, i believe the LSX is a better engine (series) than the Hemi. (though both are sickeningly powerful)

That must be one heel of a small cam in the Trans Am.

A decently cammed LS1 doesn't sound stock nor is it that slow.

well they had the ls6 cam on the t/a so that isnt much of a power increase. thats smaller than the gm hotcam which is a fairly small cam. give it atleast the trex cam and we'll see the output much better.

at LEAST a T-Rex?? u do know that the T-Rex is (i believe) the largest cam you can put in an LSX??? There are a couple of LS1's running mid 10's cam only. The LS6 cam is (comparatively) small, but you can still hit high 11's with it.
