Same here, too bad Ford doesn't have a product similar to the SS.
Never thought I'd be driving a Chevy and enjoying it.

Throw that cobra against a new GTO with some mods and it would be more of a fair race....Dodge doesn't really offer anything around there....maybe an SRT6....*shrug*.

that's gonna be one mean ass car

yeah ford needs to put a s/c on the mustang in order to beat a f-body, cant do it n/a and stay w/ in price of eachother, cobra r was 50+k but the z06 vette put that in its place
, through a vortec s/c on an ls1 f-body and other wise stay stock and we'll see who wins,

Uhhh how are they better?
5.7 LS1- 350Hp
5.7L Hemi- 334
5.7L LS6- 405
6.0L LS2- 400
6.1L Hemi- 425
Fact of the matter is that they are almost the same design, I blieve they are both pushrod engines, and with the only real changes being the head desgin (which it isn't even a true hemi) they really arn't better, not when you consider GM got 405 out of a 5.7 rather than the Hemi 6.1
You cant argue that they HAD to put a blower on the engine when they are running a smaller engine to begin with, you could just as easily say GM HAD to have a bigger engine....
35k? Riiiiiight, hell a loaded convertible GT can go for 35K.. Now way you will see it MSRP for under 37, and on dealer lots for at least 45.
Actually, no they didn't HAVE to put a blower in the cobra. It was part marketing, part stubborness by John Coletti, head of SVT at the time. They did produce good gains from upgraded cams/heads, etc. However, having be that SVT only gets limited funds form the big guns a Ford, they did not have enough money to put into research and developement of a high hp n/a modular. So, they took the knowledge already obtained through the developement of the '99+ supercharged Lightning, and applied it to the cobra. It was more cost efficient, and besides, if they stick a blower in a truck, why not the mustang?
SVT also keeps up with the trends of SVT owners, and realized how popular it was for them to install kenne Bell, Vortech, etc superchargers in their cars. So, they also figured they would get more sales from the supercharged route (which they did).
If you would like to learn more, please buy POWERED BY SVT now, at your local Branes & Noble. Cost= $52.....SVT sent me a free copy when i purchased my SVT Focus

well they had the ls6 cam on the t/a so that isnt much of a power increase. thats smaller than the gm hotcam which is a fairly small cam. give it atleast the trex cam and we'll see the output
much better.
much better.
at LEAST a T-Rex?? u do know that the T-Rex is (i believe) the largest cam you can put in an LSX??? There are a couple of LS1's running mid 10's cam only. The LS6 cam is (comparatively) small, but you can still hit high 11's with it.
