HSV Flavour For my Cobalt (lots of pics)
HSV Flavour For my Cobalt (lots of pics)
heya guys. Got some goodies from the holden dealership when i was back home visiting the folks in australia last month.
For those who dont know, GMH (General Motors Holden) is the GM equivalent in Australia, and they make some badass vehicles.
I grew up in Australia until the age of 20, so Holden is a big part of my car loving background. So when i went in to the Holden dealer, he helped me out when i said i wanted to put some holden flavour on my Chevy cobalt when i get home
Some of the apparel i got.

Got a nice HSV shirt too.
Heres what i got for the car:
(just to show legit GM products)

Now i have to decide where im gonna put them
also got a nice little Aussie flag sticker for my rear triangle window to tie it all together.

I think it's a horrible idea to stick Holden emblems on your Cobalt (Quite the ricer thing to do). I could see it (maybe) if you had a GTO but the Cobalt has nothing to do with Holden other than both companies being owned by GM. I love the CTS-V but I wouldn't stick the emblems on my Red Line.

What the hell does cobalt being related to holden have anything to do with the fact that i grew up with holdens as my dream cars....and now i own a GM here in canada?
I can understand if you dont personally like the emblems....you could call it rice if i went there on a holiday and bought the emblems cuz i thought they looked "cool"
But I grew up and lived in australia for a long time. ive watched a ton of bathurst 1000's and lived and breathed Holden. It has history and meaning to me. and now I own a car built under the same GM company.
Like i said. if you dont like them, thats cool. thats your opinion. but calling me rice for it earns you a big **** you.
Have a nice day.

you go brother
good luck
I would understand if Holden had a car out looking like the Cobalt, but there isn't. It's like if the ION replacement is the same body as the Astra, I could see a Opel or Holden badge going on one of those.
It's not like I'm buying SAAB badges to put on my Saturn just because the transmission and block and other things are in a SAAB and stamped SAAB on my car.
To each his own though.
EDIT: Now that I think of it, this is like putting Honda badges on the I5 Chevy Colorados because it is a Honda engine!

Why ship all the way from Australia? Might be cheaper for those wheels coming from Europe.
yeah i just checked the UK site... no stock wheels, lots of VXR's though(wish i could just ship one of those).... I realize shipping from the UK would be much cheaper.. but first i gotta find a part number and somewhere to order the darn things.Any Astra forums?

I like those SS emblems even though they kinda remind me of the SS symbols the ****'s used....lol
Good idea, don't worry about what no one else says.
People call the guys who convert their GTO's in monaro's even though it's the same car. Who cares where or what that SS badge came off of...you own something that has an SS badge.
I could care less if a really cool looking SS came out of a cracker jack box, I'd put it on my damn car if it looked good enough

I can understand putting the emblems (which look really nice) on for your heritige, but the bottom line is the cobalt is NOT a holden, and never will be. I'm not trying to be a dick or start a fight or anything.
But I think the analogy was made regarding putting SAAB badges on a redline just becuase they have some of the same stuff. It reminds me more of these retarded kids that put GT-R badges on their Sentras.
Do what you want man, i'm sure it will look nice. But technically it would be "false advertising."
I would I like to see some pics after you do it though, just to see what it looks like.

look, i may have over reacted a bit, but you dont seem to realise, im not some ricer punk putting badges on his car simply because im trying to suggest its a model of car that it is not.....im not putting badges on my car just because they look better....
You cant compare me to your little GTR comments, or putting SAAB badges on, because I
GREW UP IN AUSTRALIA. I was born in Australia. By the way, the holden astra is so similar to the cobalt in so many ways it might as well be a sister car.
Im not some sideways hat wearing idiot who grabbed some ferrari badges on a jetset to italy and putting them on the hood of my Cobalt here....
These badges have a brand purpose (GM) linked from a country that i grew up in for the first 20 or so years of my life. I rode around in my dads Holden Commodore SS for years and years. this isnt some whim because the ss looks PIMPIN. it has serious meaning.
That is the SS badge that *I* grew up with. Thats what Ive known on my beloved Holden supercars since i was a young kid.
so comparing me with someone snapping up saab badges on Ebay?
Or some ricer grabbing GTR badges to fake out on his car?
Comon you not even being remotely fair about it.
Secondly, to be honest from the beginning i was 100% sure about the SS, but a little unsure about the holden lion, but im still pleased i bought it just to have.
Thirdly i also got a small 1 inch size Australian flag which will be going in my triangle window to also help tie it together....
to me that has the Exact same meaning as my SS badge.
Is that rice too? Is it ok to be proud of where your from?
I think you guys have grown way to judgemental on ANYTHING that people put on their cars....and your quick to pull the "rice" trigger before you take a moment to think about it.
If an Italian man moved to the US, after spending most of his life in italy, and bought a ferrari over here....and say the badging back in italy was slightly different, so he wanted it to be like it was in his home of birth.....is that rice too?
I mean comon, it says Geniune GM right there.
Its from the country that i spent most of my life.
Thanks for the support from those of you who just expressed if they liked the badges or not instead of getting into this other crap.
Ill be putting them on tommorow sometime and ill update with some results pics
