Nice to see this place still kickin. Some updates on my car.
Did some stuff to the Impala, some I'm not happy about.
Few months ago, one of my struts decided to let go. Spent around $1100..
4 KYB GR/2's , 4 SSC 2" drops, 2 WbodyStore (not pictured) HD Control arms
Here's the car before.
and .. after
After that, I decided I was sick of the rust at the bottom of my fenders.. so after hearing nothing but great stuff about Duplicolor's "PERFECT MATCH" I decide to take the plunge. I took the front of my car apart so I could properly prep, paint, finish BOTH fenders, top to bottom.. I've painted many things before by can, needless to say, I know what I'm doing with a can. Naysayers can say what they want but I can get a finish to match the look of factory laid paint doing it all by hand.
After noticing rust on the headlamp buckets, inner fenders beginning, I took evasive action. Sanded, laid undercoat in fenders, wire brushed, sanded, rustproofed, painted where the headlamps go and the bumper where it was rusting. Came out well..
Here's where it gets interesting. My paint code (AS PER MY RPO LABEL) is "BRIGHT WHITE". It's been matched to other BRIGHT WHITE impalas and they've matched. A while ago, I bought two mirrors from a local junkyard. Car looked white in the sun. Got one on the car and it ended up being that off white "Cappucino frost" .. no biggie, just figured I'd paint them later on.
Here's what the duplicolor can said.. EVERY CAN..
Here's how it came out.
Looks great, right?
Wrong. Here's those mirrors I mentioned earlier, still in "cappucino frost" against the stock BRIGHT WHITE mirror, BRIGHT WHITE door.
Their bright white matches the ******* cappucino color.
So, I pulled it out in the sun after getting the hood back on..
Needless to say, I'm ******* furious. I spent a while doing it and that's how it came out because of DupliColor's **** up on their paint. Best part, they're refunding me the 200 dollars I spent on supplies, paint, etcetera and I'm going to eventually get actual reducer, clear, and paint from Sherwin Williams Automotive paint since I have an HVLP gun laying in the basement and I figure.. what better way to learn than by doing? It'll cost me $150 and it'll be MATCHED.
But for now, the car remains trimless on the fenders, emblemless, and sideskirtless because I just bought $60 in retaining clips for the side skirts and there ain't no way in hell I'm going to break them to remove them when I get the cash back for the paint. I just sent the receipts out last week, should take less than a month from now for the check to show back up along with my copies..
From a distance, the car looks OK..
Soon enough it'll be back to looking good.

I guess I got the bad part. LOL
Made it ride 10x better too.. wish the front would sit down a little farther but I guess not. If it doesn't settle any further in the next few months, I'll figure out a way to get it down some.
No **** buddy. I came on here years ago when I was looking at balts and never really left, check in from time to time.

What is the problem? All I see is a handful of insecure brats who somehow think they're better than me for some reason.. newsflash, you guys have/had cobalts, which was above the aveo in chevy's lineup. It was the replacement for the CAVALIER. I have an impala which when it was released in 2000, was one of the most expensive cars GM had by Chevy. You guys think my car is a problem? Look at yourselves. If I was to go out and buy a "pocket rocket" tomorrow id buy an srt4 simply so I wouldn't be in any way related to the trash that is *MOST* COBALT owners with their holier than thou facade bullshit. Go troll someone else you sissy ass bitch.

Shaking your head at what? Maybe you should shake your head at yourself. Let's take the spotlight off of me for a second - you drive a BASE MODEL cobalt on a cobalt SS board.. Your car is a CARBON FIBER (really? cause your Cobalt needs weight reduction? RACE CARS don't even use C/F mufflers) autozone-mufflered, discount tire-wheeled, wal-mart stereo heap of **** into a brick wall, collect insurance and buy something more respectable out of the craigslist classifieds. I'm the problem? Look at your mod list.. PEDAL COVERS? Painted STOCK Calipers? So not only do you have RICER BULLSHIT but you're accentuating STOCK brakes? What the hell can someone like you say to me about "shaking your head"?? You are funny bro. At least I mod my ******* car sensibly. Even when I was 16 or 17, I still had a properly modded car. Guess what? It wasn't any ricer bullshit, that's for damn sure. inb4 "u mad" , "cobalt isnt rice" , etc.
Thanks man. I have some nice white forged 17" SLP wheels in my Garage, waiting for the money for the tires I want. Bills > tires for spare set of wheels esp when I just dropped 700~ on tires for my stockies over the winter.
Here's how the car looked when I had them on.
thanks for the compliment man. The car definitely isn't everyones cup of tea but for what it's worth, unlike some people here I've actually got **** done to my car and the best thing is that I did all the work myself.

Yep, I'm "fun" and you're a ****** retard, just like everyone else running their mouth. Anyone talking **** isn't a "car enthusiast", they're a TOOL.
If you wanna try to refute what I've said just now.. consider the facts.
A tool talks **** on anything that's different from theirs.
An enthusiast has no particular interest singled out, and can appreciate several types of things.
A tool likely hasn't got legitimate **** done.. and if they do, then they're still a tool.
An enthusiast does things on their own, has pride in what they do and is excited to share new things with others.
What are you guys.. tools or enthusiasts? I surely am the ladder. to anyone running their mouth.

Holy cow, this gets better and better. I know what I drive, it was a previous rental car. I don't go out and say it was god's gift to the Pontiac line up. Congrats, you have a wannabe cop car with crappy lowering springs that don't sit level and fenders that don't match. And it's not even an SS! People in glass houses . . . .

Sucks to hear about the paint mishap
It looks a lot better lower for sure.
I personally don't like those cars but it's cool to see someone doing some work to them.
Looks very time consuming though. You're very smooth with the can however.
I've always struggled getting a spray can to lay evenly over a surface.
