Pictures of my 1989 Mazda MX-6 GT Turbocharged

Well my plans for this car is ENDLESS. At the end it will be a completely different car. Well there will never be a end. Just a change in the amount of $$ to that point.

Specs from the factory. 145hp and 190ft/lbs torque at 7psi. As soon as I get my boost gauge in and it installed with the controller I'll be running 12psi. Then the cheapest mods stop as after 12 I need to go either with a ECU chip or MS II as a piggy back. I'm going with piggy back as I have plans with this. After I reach the 16psi mark I'll probably stop there then begin the search for a spare F2T motor and a 5spd transmission(pretty much a donor car). My buddy said they had a 2.4 stroker kit for these motors. I can go on and on about my dreams, but how about I just keep you guys up-to-date with the stuff ACTUALLY done to the car and the near future plans.

I wish I could have a cardomain, but I can't upload pictures for some reason oh well. I know I don't have a Cobalt anymore. However, this is the easiest to get along forum I've been on and I go to MX6.com mostly to just get information and not chat.

I will keep you guys up-to-date on the car, but since its not a Cobalt it'd be in this forum or OT.

-Eric

edit- If you guys can't view the pictures. I just uploaded them into the gallery.

A ASE Technician rebuilt the whole powertrain and repainted(3/21/07) the car. Pretty much restored it. The interior is awesome. Dirty though. He showed me all of the receipts and everything. He was legit because he had the knowledge and knew what he was talking about.

HAHAHA.

If I go to that big of a turbo I'll give Garrett a call.

I'll probably stick with the VJ17 TBird turbo when I upgrade to it from the VJ11.

I was debating, because I've ran into a handful of probe owners and they were dicks. Then again I'll join there just for information.

Only site where BS people are at a minimum goes to

Go to Mx6.com if it's still up. I drove a 91 mx-6 GT and it was a fun car, very under estimated. I ended up dumping way to much money into tho and couldn't keep it all together. A nice exhaust system and a free flow filter should get your peak boost up to around 10 psi from the 7psi stock I think. Parts also transfer from any gt model 88-91. Dunno about the 92 model tho not to many off em. If you get bored you can always convert to the FE3 motor that they installed overseas. Personally I think the single cam motor gets more bang for the buck on turbo tho. Got any questions feel free to PM me cus I really got down and dirty on that car.

Edit: My car was a manual and I did the 5speed swap. It's not all that difficult. Got lucky and found an 89gt at the junkyard that had been totally overlooked. I had them get everything I needed to do that swap. Came back the following day and the motor and turbo peaced out already lol

I'm on MX6.com. They have a NICE How-To for the swap. I plan on doing that after I just get bored at 16psi. When I get it above 13psi I plan to start collecting all the parts. I'll be boosting 10-12psi as soon as I get a boost gauge in and get it and my controller installed.

I read that the 1G MX-6 has two series Series A(88-89) and Series B(90-92) and that somethings were different.

I plan on staying with the F2 motor. I mean theres already a ton of parts out there. Big deal if its SOHC or DOHC. Other than the fact its just one more cam. The turbo makes up for that.

I could have sworn the parts came from an 89 and I think it was a 4 door to boot. Did yours come with the adjustable shocks?

Dude, awesome car. My buddy had a '86 626 GT 5 speed. Somehow, he had it running like 17 psi for a while. Best beater ever. Would light up the right front tire in second gear. It got given/sold to a friend and blown up, but damn it was a fun car.

Also, he painted it flat black, the whole car. Looked kinda cool in a funky beater kinda way.

Cool, well there isn't much I can tell you that you can't find at mx-6.com Good luck with the car it's a fun car. I two great mods to consider when you up the boost is an msd ignition coil, I think I used the master blaster 3 maybe, and then the walbro fuel pump.
