painting grilles

so i was introduced with the idea to paint my grilles black. i def agree with the gentleman that pointed it out to me that it would look damn good with my dark gray G5. so got the plastic paint for it, just need the time to remove and prep. any tips i should know before tackling this simple project? will post pics once done of course.

i used windex to clean mine, did it 2 weeks ago, only one chip in it from a rock. spray from both the top and bottom so you get everything coated

one medium coat to start, then went with 3 lights coats. looks like it was black plastic to begin with. the plastic paint works on all plastic as long as prepped properly. so far the durability is doing good. was tested by a ******* bird diving in front of my car whne i was doing about 45mph lol. no damage(to my car that is lol) and as for the evo mod, **** that.

ive done 2 grilles with krylon fusion for plastics and did absolutly no prep at all. they both were brand new in the package. i simply took them out of the bag than sprayed them. no clear nothing.
mine has been good for roughly 2 years. the other 1 year.

i used rustoleum for plastic. i've had much better luck with it than the krylon fusion. best part is, it doesnt need clear coat. has a glossy finish once dry and cured.

Any pics? Btw don't use winded to prep, use paint thinner to romove any wax or debris. Then wipe dry with clean cloth then paint

so had to repaint my grills. the winter did a lovely job on them. minor chips here or there. i think mostly due to the over salted streets of the midwest. instead of doing just the grille section, i did the whole piece. looks soooo much better when you open the hood, seeing black instead of pathetic raw grey plastic.
