As far as I'm concerned a red lens is going to look cleaner than a clear one. That way you don't see all the LED's behind it.

Have at 'er.

its really not that hard, get a set of cobalt outer tails, take off your red lens off the g5 coupe tails, dremmel out the center light reflector to fit flush over the cobalt tails, mount the lights, add a screw to the point of the tail light housing (screws into body) and then paint the housing when everything is done and right.
if u have any questions just pm me... i dont like building things for people cause i dont want to **** something up and have the customer unsatisfied, reflects on me and i dont wanna look like an ass lol..

although i do plan on building my other lights soon so u can buy these off me when i do that lol

oh ok. that doesn't seem to hard..
I'll gladly buy yours off of you when you build your other lights.
in the meantime I need to make a junk yard run and find some tail lights. haha

Still experimenting a bit with these. I wanted to compare the look of the stock reflector and one spray painted black. Never mind the lens on the left light, that's the one that didn't come off in one piece lol
I do like the look of the black, but am a bit disappointed with the lens on, I had hoped it would be darker.
What do you guys think?

There will be s difference when the LEDs arelit up, less reflections in the black one. I'll keep at it

Messed around a bit more today with the G5 tail. I remembered what c1_c1rca did to his and wanted to see how it would look with an actual smoked K2 Cobalt tail light incorporated. Remember this is very rough, imagine the paint all black and cleared, and imagine the "gutters" where the lens goes filled in with some filler and nice and smooth. For a total blacked out look, I could open up the K2 tail and have everything in there be black as well. Most importantly, I would like for the G5 fixture to be permanently attached to the Cobalt light, to avoid having to secure it to the car with screws like c1_c1rca did. Thoughts?

My rough concept:
