(2.2l) Excessive oil leaking from valve cover pcv

Had a breather filter on there and it was saturated with oil. I got a new intake with an actual hose I took it off to look at it and the whole intake and everything is soaked with oil. What m might be wrong? Thanks.

Go any Check Engine Light on by any chance?

Hot air coming from the breather tube/oil cap is normal, hence the fact its called a "breather" tube lol.

Maybe you did have too much oil at one point and that's why oil is in your outlet induct (filter in your case), just clean it out, keep an eye on your oil levels and your cleaned filter and see what happens, some oil will always come through the breather tube, so small amounts is normal, no worries there.

IT IS NOT NORMAL TO HAVE OIL GOING THROUGH THE VENT AND INTO THE INTAKE!! No mather what other posters tell you this is not normal. The PCV "valve" is actually part of the valve cover (top of the engine where the coils aren inserted) , and as any PCV system its supposed to prevent this from happening and only air/fume should go through it, so if its leaking oil out the breather then you need to have the whole cover checked/replaced because in time you may have performance issues namely throttle body covered in oil producing rough idles or any other problems like damage of the throttle body itself. From experience i can tell you it does not necesarily throw a CEL (in my case it didnt but still cranking was very rough and had some idle issues as in acceleration still no CEL was shown). As of now im researching on how to properly clean/fix the breather(PCV "valve") if it is possible at all instead of the logical option to go for wich is replacing the cover because of overpricings here in my country for about $350 lol.
So my final advice is this: catch cans fix nothing and if the people that use this sort of thing havent had any problems in years it doesnt mean u wont have so fix it!!! lol Cleaning your throttle body every month is a bitch...
lol 2 years late wow u may still be able to save ur car !! hahaha

omi. zombie thread. There is a check valve in the IM and no valve in the rocker cover. venting to atmosphere is silly and if the inlet post maf is leaking air the car will not run right.

I think the motor had a blow by problem.
