2006 cobalt supercharged ss intercooler intake leak
2006 cobalt ss supercharged version, got recently, been doing a lot of basic maintenance that had never been done, all going well until I noticed no visible coolant in intercooler reservoir.
I begun to add coolant, excepted to see no fluid movement as system took about 1 gal to fill intercooler and hose/pump. but all a sudden it sprang to life. seem to cycling fluid quickly, and quietly. I shut it down. no leaks, did some other (non-related) repairs, took it for a test drive, as soon I got into the throttle to where boost begun to kick in, she started shaking and white smoke out the tailpipe like a fog machine. and of course the level in coolant intercooler res dropped significantly but no external leak. I can only assume there is something internally from the intercooler coolant system that is leaking into the intake.
because of this, and fluid loss, I drained intercooler (as it has been dry probably for years) and unplugged electric signal wire to pump.
any help in pinpointing possible cause and fix would be greatly appreciated.

alright thanks for the input, I ordered up intake manifold to head gasket, all 8 o-rings for the laminova tubes and air by pass seal, I 'll swap them all out.
anything else it could be or I should watch for when replacing these. or is it always the o-rings that fail?

Because you say there is no visible external leak then I too would say that the O-rings are your issue as they are the only internal seals that can be allowing coolant to go through your engine.

alright I received new "improved" Laminova o ring seals from ZZP, along with end plate seal. I will pull these and change out the o-rings and end seal. my question is I read the clock notes about the Laminova cores and understand that but what about "IN" or "out" directions?
( I plan to put them in the way they come out) but also see many setups showing various directions these are installed in what is "stock" directions for these Laminova cores? I am not modifying the end plate (dual pass setup) but running a stock setup.

alright so all good, I think.
I took the sc off, intake and removed the Laminova tubes, and clean everything. replaced o-rings and clocked them according
to the actual openings in the intake it self as two where close and two where far off...also new and end plate seal.
put it all back together, filled heat exchanger then pump and lines, level holds now in spout /neck/reservoir.
no smoke during boost. no leaks.
my question is my normal intake vacuum pressure was 14, (ever since I got the car) 6 months ago.
first time I ran it since this o-ring replacement etc. it jumped up to 20 and holds steady at idle. still reacts to any throttle input and up to boost range as normal.
I am gathering this is from now denser (cooler) air due to the pump, coolant, and intercooler functioning ,
thus cooling the air in the intake.
does 20 sound "normal" for the most part?
