2006 SS Supercharged Coolant Leak. HELP!
 

So i recently bought a 2006 chevy cobalt ss supercharged and it was about 3 weeks ago, the dealership i bought it from still has a warranty to bring it back but i want to avoid that because i have a feeling that they will probobly not fix it well. either with cheap part or not done well. anyways. ive been driving it and it was fine for a little and first off. ive just started noticing the coolant temp feature on the dash and i noticed it gets to like 220 when im idleing but when moving it stays at a consistant 180ish. im just wondering if thats hot and also, and the main reason for this thread. my car has somehow began to leak coolant. when i drive until the car gets to regular temp. and turn it off and look under the front bumper there is a leak comming from the right side of the radiator. but it doesnt really look like its comming from the radiator. if someone who has a cobalt ss looks under the bumper to the right side (the right side from looking at the front of the car) and see what seems to be an overflow tube that goes to a piece of metal. it looks like its comming from there. im jsut wondering if anyone has had the same problem and if it was just a fan or something cause the cooling to boil and overflow to much or something. i dont know but someone please look under your ss and let me know what your opinion is, thank you.

First off, those #'s you posted are completely normal for a stock-tuned Cobalt SS Supercharged.

Secondly, you're most likely seeing the drip from the a/c condenser. If your coolant was low you'd also get a message on the DIC.

temps are normal. could be the overflow for the heatexchanger. theres a filler neck by the tb w the overflow tube check there

haha im sorry i forgot to add in that my coolant becomes low like over night and yes low coolant shows up on my dic. i check and it ends up being like half way empty after like 20 minutes of driving on backroads. and it doesnt drip ac shit. ac shit is water isnt it? this drip is yellowish orange just like the dexcool coolant and it puddles underneath.

Alright, well in that case check all of the hoses/connections for leaks.

These cars aren't all too complicated. It's going to be next to impossible to diagnose through the internet really.

Put the car on jack stands and have a look!

And remember to use gravity to your advantage. Just because a hose is wet doesn't necessarily mean it's leaking. Always start high and work your way down when trying to diagnose a fluid leak.

true. i was gonna take a pic and put it up here to make it easier for someone to help. the only thing is that there isnt much room to see anything under the hood. idk about from underneath so ill give that a try but from under the hood i couldnt see anything at all. but thank you very much, if anyone else has an idea dont hesitate to respond.

In your first post it says you still have a warranty so just take it in and they will fix it.

Ya I could but I'm hesitant too because I feel like they'll do a shitty job and not do it so it lasts. My brother who is a mechanic says that he has seen cars that have been fixed by the dealer by the warranty and they literally duct taped it so it would go beyond the warranty

get a coolant pressure tester and pressurize the system, you should find your leak with pressure on the system

You can rent a pressure tester from autozone, might make your search a lot easier to find it its leaking when your looking for it. Just a thought.

I dont think those temps are normal i get 190 at idle and about 180 when moving even when its 104 outside ive also got a 2.9 pulley.

It's normal for a car running it's stock tune. Or a tuned car with stock fan settings.
