ac clutch on compressor noise
06 ss 2.0 supercharged cobalt, been sitting a while, started up runs perfect, but small chirp noise gets louder and louder as it runs and I can see its the ac compressor clutch slightly grabbing, gets worse and worse until its becomes a almost constant loud squealing noise, when I turn on the ac the clutch engages fine, noises disappears instantly, and all functions fine.
I turn ac off and noise is back and I can watch the clutch randomly grab again and move slightly.
something broken?
worn?
or possibly just rust build up between the pulley face and clutch?
any suggestions to correct, appreciated.

Could be this or also could also be rust in the bearing that the pulley free spins on when the clutch is disengaged. Without taking it off not sure if there is much you can do. If you go to the work of removing it though you may as well just go ahead and replace the clutch.
