car has 123k miles everything is original with the engine except i just recently changed the exhaust cam position sensor on top of the motor.

i started thinking it might be that i got a faulty part because i don't remember hearing this noise before replacing that part...but i kinda feel like its the timing chain components

what are your guys thoughts. bad timing chain tensioner or faulty cam position sensor?

only makes the noise at idle and it also goes away when i drive a little and then can start making the noise again.... its intermittent. engine can be hot or cold... doesn't matter. sometimes its there when i start the car and sometimes its not. the cam sensor also sounded like there was a ball bearing inside of it when i shook the sensor but so did the old sensor it replaced so i figured it was normal

pretty sure the videos should work now. the noise is like a high pitched screeching noise... not a ticking noise. almost sounds like a belt slipping kind of a noise.

Haven't listened to the video but if it's a high pitched screech there is a chance the turbo is on its way out?

its definitely high pitched but goes away as soon as there is a raise in the rpms above idle. wouldn't think it would go away if it was the turbo failing thank you for suggesting that. ill check the free play on the turbine shaft forsure.

the sound seems to be the loudest right at the top of the motor on the timing chain side
